Wilma's Obituary

Funeral services for Wilma Nell (Rice) Rodgers, 91 of Cookeville, TN, will be held on Friday, Oct. 10th, 2025 at 10:00am from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Simic officiating. Burial will follow at the Nash Cemetery in Baxter. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, Oct. 9th from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rodgers passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 at her residence. She was born on June 19, 1934 in Putnam County, TN and raised to the late Logan Mansfield and Flora (Judd) Rice.

She was a homemaker for her husband of 68 years, the late Marston Rodgers and MOM to her four children and any other child from the neighborhood who needed her. She was a great “Good Ole Fashion Southern” cook who was also not afraid to try any new recipe she found interesting. She served the Lord faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, WMU member, GA leader, Acteen leader, choir member, and, of course, the cook for Wednesday night prayer meetings. She was also a member of the Women’s Interdenominational Bible Study while living in Sarasota, Florida for many years. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. And was a long-time member of Double Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children & spouses: Marsha & Harold Sicks, Anita Proctor, Mark & Kathleen Rodgers, Bryan & Tamie Rodgers. Grandchildren & Spouses: James Rodgers, Joshua Proctor, Amanda & Justin Ramsey, Aaron Proctor, Justin Rodgers, and Megan Sicks. Great Grandchildren: Aidan Proctor and Tatum Kendrick. Sister: Oma Stidham; Nieces & Nephews too many to count.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her great grandchild: John Rodgers; Brothers: Lawrence Rice, Arson Rice, Houston Rice, Cleburn Rice, Bob Rice, and Joe Rice. Sisters: Grace Maynard, Ethel Rice, Versa Maxwell, Edna Williams, Deloris Massa, and Nancy Johnson.

Pallbearers will be: Aaron Proctor, Aidan Proctor, Justin Rodgers, Justin Ramsey, Michael Smullin, and Ronald Myers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: James Rodgers, Joshua Proctor, and Harold Sicks.Memorial Donations may be made to the Southern Baptist Convention or churches.
