Yvonne's Obituary

Funeral on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church. 

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Friday, February 11, 2022, with family present to

great friends at Zion Lutheran Church.

 

Yvonne Darlene Van Wyhe passed away February 7, 2022 at Sanford Ava’s House.

Yvonne Darlene Van Wyhe was born December 30, 1937. The daughter of Gerrit Van Wyhe &Katy (Kathryn) Schmedhans Van Wyhe. She was baptized & confirmed at St. Paul’s LutheranChurch, Ireton, Iowa, where she was a member for 65 years. She graduated from Ireton HighSchool in 1955 and started working at Security Saving Bank, Ireton, Iowa, for the Juffers, inDecember of that same year and worked there for 42 years. She then worked for Dr. RogerReppert at his vet clinic for 3 years until she moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She startedworking for a medical company, Kreisers, until she retired at 76 years old.

She became a member of Zion Lutheran Church a few years after moving to Sioux Falls. Shealways enjoyed driving around looking over the crops as they grew each year.She traveled all over the United States by car with two friends, Marilyn and Pearl, each summer,and always said after she got home, “Northwest Iowa and her little town of Ireton was still thebest place to live.”

She loved to read and write poems for a lot of special occasions for people. For Ireton’s 100thCelebration, she was asked to write something and wrote about small town life in Ireton Shetitled it “Do You Remember”.

Yvonne enjoyed spending time with family and friends singing and telling jokes. She hastouched the lives of many and she will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her father Gerrit, mother Kathryn, brother Dennis andbrother-in-law Gene A. Gabel.

She is survived by her brother Ron Van Wyhe, his wife Shirley and their children, Greg (Robin), Denise (Tim)and Diane (Jeff); her sister, Sondra Gabel and her children Kelly and Shelly, Kelly’s wife Dorothy andtheir children Josh (Hope), Elijah and Hope; Shelly’s fiancé Mike Buskol and her son Dakota.
