Douglas Steeves Obituary
Doug graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 as a sharpshooter and served with the European Theater in World War II. He spent time in California prior to returning to Lincoln in 1952.
Doug married Betty Cole in 1955. Together they spent many years owning businesses, raising children, spending time with grandchildren, selling real estate, and working for Lincoln Pulp & Paper. Doug was also a member of the Horeb Lodge No. 93.
Doug is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Cole) Steeves of Enfield; and daughters, Judy Steeves and David Adams of Bucksport, Candy and Kenny Bayliss of Zepyhrhills, Fla., and Cindy and Rob Rossignol of Holden. Also granddaughter, Kimberly and Virgil Rideout of Holden; grandsons, Mike Mulholland of Eddington, and Kyle and Erin Johnson of Hermon; and great-grandsons, Jacob Preston, Kyle and Kaleb Johnson. Also survived by a sister, Lois and David Stuart of Yarmouth; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Bob Enochs of Lincoln; and sister-in-law, Gloria Ogden of Lincoln.
He was predeceased by siblings, Warren Steeves, Louise Prue, Jerome Steeves, Eleanor Enochs and Ray Steeves.
Memorial service to be held at Lincoln Cemetery. Date to be announced.

Betty and girls, so sorry to hear of your loss. I always enjoyed visiting with Doug and Betty the camp or in your restaurant in Woodland. Doug always treated people like he was so happy to see them and made you feel so welcome all the time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Doug was always such a pleasant man to talk with. We used to talk about what a great day it would be "if we were at camp". My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. You used to be our neighbors at camp, many years ago when you had the camp near Mill Privilege stream.

Doug was a quiet man but his face would always light up when any of his great grandsons would come to visit and sit in his lap or give him a hug!! I'm very thankful for the time he was in our lives and "great gramp" will forever be in our hearts.
