Brenda Attean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 2013.
VERONA ISLAND - Brenda Sue (Humphrey) Attean, 63, passed away unexpectedly June 12, 2013, at her residence. She was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Augusta, daughter of Arnold and Lena (Stickney) Humphrey.

She attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School, class of 1968. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was a Cony majorette. She started her work briefly at the State of Maine, followed by her position as an office professional for Eastern Maine Technical College. In 1969 she married James Carey and was blessed with four sons. After years as a stay at home mom, she returned back to work for Training and Developments Corporation in Bangor and Bucksport. She recently retired from that position after 30 years of service. Brenda was a proud and loving mother and has been a friend of Bill W. for more than 30 years. She enjoyed camping with her grandchildren and especially loved her visits as an honorary "Bermuda Onion" at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort in Bermuda, making each trip a special journey with one of her boys at a time. She treasured her "man-time" with her Dad where she enjoyed the nickname "Benny."

She was predeceased by her parents; her second husband, Brian Attean; and her very special aunt, Doris. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie (Severance) and husband, David; and four sons, Jeromy Carey of Augusta, Joshua Carey of Augusta, Jonathan Carey of Warren and Josiah Carey of Mechanic Falls. Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Justin Carey of Bangor, Jordan Vanidestine of Bangor, Sierra and Miranda Carey of China, Carson Gross of Livermore, Alicia Carey of Vassalboro, Creedance Stockforld and Ella Mae Forrester of Pittston; and her two loyal Doberman companions, Donovan and Demetri.

She will be cremated and her ashes will be placed by her sons at her favorite place on earth, Bermuda Flats, Bermuda. At her request, there will be no funeral or visiting hours. Contributions in her name may be made to Doberman Rescue Unlimited, 52 Tenney Road, Sandown, NH 03873. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services. www.mitchelltweedie-young.com.

To the Family,

I am so sorry for the loss of Brenda. Brenda was a friend to both myself and my husband Larry. I saw her in December when Larry passed away. She came to give me support and pay her last respects to her friend. She was a very special person and I will never forget her and the friendship she gave me. She had a very special way of looking at death. I can only find peace in knowing that she is now with her loved ones that left this earth before her. RIP my friend. You will never be forgotten.
