Victoria Enmon Obituary

Victoria Jo Enmon, 15, of Little Cypress, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008, at Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston following a lengthy battle with Leukemia. Family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at North Orange Baptist Church on Wednesday. Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008, at North Orange Baptist Church located at 4775 16th St., Orange, TX. Reverend Scott McIntosh of the church will officiate. Additional visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Watson & Sons Funeral Home located on Highway 7 East in Center, TX. followed by Graveside services at 3:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Park also located on Highway 7 East in Center. Reverend Carroll Jones of Spann Chapel in Center will officiate. Victoria loved life! Her positive attitude and outlook was contagious to everyone who ever knew her! Her greatest desire was to one day go back to LCM high school and spend time with her friends. Victoria was never without a smile or a kind word. It was her strength, her faith and her desire to win that captured the heart of so many. Victoria's story and her willingness to face her battle with dignity and determination made her a role model for those who knew her so well. Friends and family were very important to Victoria; she enjoyed spending time with both and always looked forward to the next visit or the next phone call. Not being the typical teenager, Victoria had to grow up fast and learn to handle things most kids never even think about. No matter what obstacle lay ahead, Victoria tackled it head on and never looked back. Cheerleading and gymnastics were two things Victoria found important, and as in everything she did in life, she excelled in both. As a member of Horizon's Tumbling Team, Victoria traveled to the Jr. Olympics National Championship in Sacramento, California, during the summer of 2003. Victoria was an Honor Roll student and an active member of Student Council. Throughout her life, Victoria became active in the American Cancer Society. In 2005, Victoria was selected as a Relay for Life Texas Heroes of Hope for the state of Texas. She was a Page for Senator Tommy Williams in Austin and in January 2005, Victoria was honored at the Texas State Capital with House Resolution 125. As a spokesperson for Jiffy Lube and Papa John's Pizza, Victoria helped raise money for the Texas Childrens Hospital Cancer Center. Victoria was also featured on KKBQ FM 93 each year when they held their annual radio-thon with proceeds going to Texas Childrens Hospital Cancer Center as well. Victoria found great satisfaction in reaching out and helping others, especially the many friends she made during her stay at TCH. Victoria loved her church as much as anything and found great comfort in being a member of North Orange Baptist Church. It was a thrill for her to participate in Youth activities as often as she could. Victoria's favorite verse became her source of peace, comfort and strength during her four year battle. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. It was Victoria's faith that will remain her greatest legacy. For those who knew and loved Victoria, her vivacious spirit will live on in each of us. Those surviving Victoria are her parents, Victor and Jo Ellen Enmon of Orange; brother, James Enmon II of Orange and his fiancé  Aimee Riley of Vidor; sister and brother-in-law, Christin and Justin Hommel of Houston and grandparents, James and Bobbie Enmon of Center and John and Margaret Sikes of Orange and great grandmother, Era B. Enmon of Center. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles and cousins, Elaine and Mike Jackson of Georgetown, their children, Jennifer Jackson of Temple, Adam, Elisha and McKenzie Jackson of Temple; Karen and Tim Heitman of Frisco, their children, John Stone and Samantha Stone of Frisco; Phillip Stone of Frisco; Kristi and Johnny Conn of Little Cypress and their children Leslie Conn and Shelly Conn, both of Little Cypress and her special friends, Sadie and Molly, Victoria's favorite pet dachshunds. Victoria's parents would like to recognize the men who so graciously became Victoria's white cell donors as Honorary Pallbearers; Dereck Cloeren, Johnny Trahan, Joe Love, Deon Burnett, Dustin Greenwood, Tommy Gunn, Bobby Hommel, Troy Johnson, Dan Syphrett, Justin Hommel, Johnny Conn, Mike Jackson, James Enmon II, and Victor Enmon. It is their dedication and contributions that will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, Victoria's parents request you send donations to the North Orange Baptist Church; Victoria Enmon Youth Building Fund. Monies can be sent to 4775 North 16th Street, Orange, TX. 77632. Local arrangements are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

That Victoria was a loving sweet person

February 10, 2018

Victoria I only found out about you now in the year 2018 but when I heard about your story it was heartbreaking. I go to Kamehameha Schools Maui seventh grade and Im also a cheerleader and for stunts Im also a flyer. Hearing your story and the trials you went through but still fought through it, it is truly amazing and I hope I can be as good as you are. Watching videos of you at games, gymnastics, is really remarkable your energy, smile, and personality just brings a smile to my face and joy to my soul. Your so energetic and I know your still being that happy little cheerful girl now just like your are then. May your story live on, and your energy live on. From now on your the person I will work hard for in cheer, you will live on in this life and in my heart.

It was an honor to care for Victoria while she was a patient at Texas Children's Hospital. She was a beautiful young lady that always demonstrated such courage and spirit in such difficult circumstances. Victoria was also blessed to have such a wonderful family to support her through her battle. I share the grief of the Enmon's in the loss of their daughter, as my father passed away two days before Victoria. However, I know he was waiting for her at the gate of heaven with our Lord. While it is sad that two angels had to leave us, it is comforting to know they are together in heaven still watching over us from above.

Tori touched my life in so many ways. She taught me courage and how to never give up no matter what life throws your way. I became a widow at the age of 33 due to my husband losing his life to cancer. See it was at point in my life when I was losing hope and my faith when I meet Tori! She taught me to be strong. We will never forget Tori nor her family. We love you all!

My favorite memory of you is when you would get off the bus at LCI and bebop across campus with that beautiful head of hair swinging side to side on your way to your mom's classroom! How precious you were and still are with those angel wings! I will miss your beautiful face, heart, and voice....I can't wait to see them in heaven...God Bless you and your family.

Dear Enmon Family,

I heard of Victoria during the preparation for Celebration on the Hill. I too am a Hero of Hope. It touched me that such a beautiful young girl would be stricken with this disease. I watched the Ambassadors from your area carry a poster of her during the Survivor walk at Celebration and I have followed her story ever since. She was amazing! She was a source of strength and hope, not just for me, but for so many. You should be so proud that you had such a wonderful daughter. I am so sorry for your loss. The prevailing message I saw during the time I have known of Tori is the tremendous faith that you and your family have. That will get you through this. Tori would want you to be happy. Patti Trout.

January 28, 2008

Jo Ellen, Victor, Christin & James: My name is Jeff Ross and I'm an ACS Volunteer. I attended an event at the nations capitol called "Celebration On the Hill 2006." We were there to tell the government that we care about cancer and our voices will be heard! That is where I was introduced to Victoria. Some ladies were carrying a life size photograph of her and proudly told me she was the reason they were involved in Relay For Life. I have been praying for Tori and you guys since that day. Please know that Tori did not lose her battle to cancer as long as we keep fighting. Rest assure "WE WILL".
These are the times you must let God carry you. Never forget - "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"
Peace of Christ be with you.

We were so sorry to hear that Victoria has passed on from this earth, but oh the joy she has in Heaven with the Lord.  No more pain, no more tears, no more sickness.  My daughter Ella is a patient at TCH, too, and we sort of got to know you from the 9th floor.  I cannot imagine the pain of not having Victoria here with you, and how hard it must be to go on.  She will be forever in your hearts, and you'll be together again someday at last. I do know that God will hold you in the palm of His loving hand, and will never leave you, even when it's hard to tell he's carrying you, like in the footprints poem.  We just wanted to express our deepest sympathy to you and the entire family at this most difficult time.  May God bless you with peace, rest, support and love, just when and how you need it.  God Bless, Kelly, Michael, and Ella Langridge (who is 5)

I'm someone else you don't know. I am fairly new to Orange - have lived here a little over a year. When I saw the "Pray for Victoria Enmon" signs, I did just that - not knowing who she was or what need she had. I knew God would know! I have followed her through Carepages, and cried and rejoiced with the family. My heart was warmed by the kids on my street selling lemonade for Victoria's benefit. What a blessing she was, and will continue to be.

What Cancer Cannot Do

Cancer is so limited,
It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot eat away peace,
It cannot destroy confidence,
It cannot kill friendship,
It cannot shut out memories,
It cannot silence courage,
It cannot invade the soul,
It cannot reduce eternal life,
It cannot quench the spirit,
It cannot lessen the power of determination.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I met Victoria last year at the Relay for Life. I'm a cancer survivor myself (31 yrs old) and that was my first year there. I thought she was there with someone else for support. She was so full of life and didn't slow down. I would of never known she had cancer. I came home and told my husband about her. Wishing I had as much energy and spunk as she still had. But now she has even more of that energy without any pain. I will continue to pray for your family.

Teresa Rawlinson

January 23, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know from my own experience that a loss of a child is heart wrenching. I have talked with you through emails in the past and have always held a special place in my heart for your daughter and loved one. the words I feel can not be sxpressed as I to feel loss again, someone so bright and vibrant should not have to be rememebered but should still be with us to teach. My Victoria lived by this little phrase' Aspire to Inspire before you Expire! I think your daughter did great of living up to that and inspired so many to do so many things. He memeory will forever be in your hearts. Lean on each other through these times. I am deeply sorry for your loss. She was an inspiration to many.

Tori, I did not know you as well as others, but the times when I did hang out with you were enough to show me what an incredible person you are. God bless you Tori, I hope you are in a peaceful painless place now.

Tori, your angel wings have enabled you to now share with and love on all those littler angels that needed a special angel to watch over them. JoEllen, Victor, Christin, James and spouse/fiancee, thank you so much for sharing Tori with us and allowing us to be a part of her life. We have been honored to be able to love her and let others know of her indomitable spirit and zest for giving to others. She will always be a Hero of Hope and will give encouragement and hope to all who knew her personally and thru her carepages. Thx again for letting us share Tori.

We all have such wonderful memories of watching Victoria tumble, get tossed, and bounced around-always landing with a smile on that beautiful face! Victoria was such a great friend to every life she touched. We truly will miss her, but thank God we will be in her presence again! She is now your Guardian Angel!

I live in San Augustine, Texas and I never met Victoria, but we have prayed for her and her family for many months. I, like many others, do not always understand what God chooses to do. However, we know that God does not make mistakes and if we lean on Him, He will walk us through our trails. We had a child leave this earth due to cancer and join God in heaven, thefore, we have walked in your shoes. We will continue to pray for the Enmon family. Continue to walk in faith and God will never fail you.

I was truly saddened by this news.I've never met Tori or her family, but I felt like I knew them thru the Labry fmly. It has been an honor and an inspiration to me, to have spent time getting to know them. She was a real "HERO" to us all. May our Lord continue to bless us all. Your family shall remain in my prayers.

I did not know Victoria personally, but came to know her, Jo Ellen, Victor, Christin and James through Carepages. Aunt Karen is a friend of mine and Victoria was constantly in my prayers. Knowing the positive impact Victoria had on so many people, even the ones she never met, like myself, should be a great comfort to you all. God has chosen an angel from earth to join him in his glorious kingdom. May the peace of God which passes all understanding be with your family now and always.

I have been following Victoria's care pages since she was rediagnosed. I am on the Regional Council for Relay for Life and there was not a meeting that went by that we have not talked about Victoria. I never got a chance to meet her but from reading the pages that you wrote, you feel so close to her. Victoria will be my reason to Relay this year. I do not want any family to go through what you all have been going through this past year.

I am so glad the Lord lead me to Victoria's Carepage in November 2007. I prayed for her and the Enmon family frequently. Victoria, in the short time she spent on this earth, made an impact on many lives.
Many people were blessed!

May you (the family) also find comfort in Victoria's favorite scripture "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"!
Your loss is tremendous and your hearts must be heavy. God bless you

Enmon Family,
I have been blessed by your faith throughout your trials(as I know many people have)...God did give you a test & you PASSED!! You followed his commandments & showed the world what it means to BELIEVE!!! I will keep you in my prayers, as I know the next steps will be so difficult. May God continue to pour His blessing on your entire family & the Orange community throughout this time. I so wish I could be there to help celebrate Victoria's life, but know many people will be celebrating & grieving with you from afar.

I truly will miss Victoria and "Tori's Tattler". I loved her spirit and looked forward to reading in the Carepage all the positive things that happened in her life this past year. She was a remarkable little girl and I know she'll be missed by all. May God be with all of you and help you through this sad time in your lives. You'll always be in my prayers!
