Frederick Wharton Clark Colby Jr.

1928 - 2014 Frederick Wharton Clark Colby, Jr., known as Bo to family and friends, passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on August 2, 2014 at the age of 85 with his family by his side. Born September 15, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gertrude Follett Colby and Dr. Frederick W. C. Colby, Bo spent his early years in Malvern, Iowa before moving to Beaumont, TX. After graduating from Beaumont High School and the University of Texas, he worked in the oil and gas industry until retirement. On January 10, 1955, he married Sandra Kiplinger of Lake Charles, LA. After raising their family in Beaumont, TX, they settled in Prairieville, LA. Best remembered for his devotion and loyalty to his family and his love of the outdoors, this great storyteller will be truly missed. His beloved wife of 49 years, Sandra, and his brother, Dr. Charles F. Colby, preceded Bo in death. He is survived by his son, Charles Follett Colby of Prairieville, LA; daughter, Caron Colby Whitesides and her husband, Alan Whitesides of Prairieville, LA; daughter, Christy Colby Heno and her husband, Scott Heno of Houston, TX. Grandchildren include Rachel and Gracen Whitesides of Prairieville, LA; Cade Colby of Prairieville, LA; and Maddie and Colby Heno of Houston, TX. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 680 Calder St., Beaumont, TX 77701. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
