George Fulton Obituary

George Richard Fulton, Jr. died in Beaumont, Texas on Monday, February 23, 2026. He was born in Beaumont to Marion and George Fulton on November 1, 1937. In 1941, he moved with his family to Lake Charles, Louisiana where he graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1955.

George earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1961 from the University of Texas, Austin, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lamar University in 1972.

In 1961, George was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers and served his country for two years. Following his military service, he began his professional career in Beaumont with Pure Oil Company, which later became UNOCAL. He retired in 2004 as Purchasing Manager in Long Beach, California, and returned home to Beaumont.

A man of deep and abiding faith, George was active in the Presbyterian Church throughout his life. He was a gifted musician who served as Principal Clarinetist with the Beaumont Symphony Orchestra, the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony Orchestra in California and Lamar's Community Orchestra.

George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Jim Towers.

He is survived by his sister, Peg Towers; nephew, Jim Towers Jr, and his wife, Frances; niece, Mary Jane Nogay, and her husband, Bruce, of Mary Esther, Florida; and great niece, Meg Gonzalez, and her husband, Mark, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Foundation, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, Texas 77706 or The Symphony of Southeast Texas, 4345 Phelan Boulevard, Beaumont, Texas 77707.

A gathering of Mr. Fulton's family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with his memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2026, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont. A private burial for Mr. Fulton will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Met George while singing in St. Andrew Presbyterian Church choir. Outstanding Bass voice. Loved sitting next to him so I could listen to him sing.
