Columbia, Illinois - Henry F. Jacobs, Jr., 92, of Columbia, Illinois, born September 9, 1928 in Fults, Illinois, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Henry was retired from Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis, MO. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, IL and also the American Legion Post 1215 in Renault, IL. When he was able Henry was very active in his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Wilhelmina, nee Kaestner, Jacobs, Sr.; three brothers, Otto, Wilmer, and Vernon Jacobs; and two sisters, Nelda Jacobs and Esther Johanning.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Darlene Jacobs, nee Altes; his daughter, Corla (Don) Greer of Arnold, MO; a brother, Melvin Jacobs of Kirkwood, MO; two grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Haskell of Pevely, MO and Ryan (Stefani) Greer of Bonne Terre, MO; and two great grandchildren, Ashton Haskell and Kolt Greer. He was also a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

As an expression of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Columbia, IL.
Private funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Columbia, Illinois with burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri to immediately follow.
The family of Mr. Jacobs entrusted his care to Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Illinois.

We have had the pleasure of Darlene and Henry coming to the CPH Bookstore for many years. We always admired the love They had for each other. Our Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Darlene may God carry you through.

Henry Jacobs, coworker, friend, and brother in Christ. Always patient, always kind, conscientious at his work, always ready to teach. I will never forget the privilege l had to work with Henry for so many years and to know what a fine Christian man he was. To be absent in the body and present with the Lord is our blessed hope. Darlene, I’m sorry for you and your family’s loss, but I know the Lord will comfort and bless you. We look forward to that blessed reunion in heaven. You are in my prayers.

Henry was a kind and patient man I respected and admired. He took me under his wing and shared his knowledge with me when I was hired to take his place 27 years ago. God bless you Henry Jacobs. See you in the next life.
