Our sympathies Melodee. Janet reminded me how much she and her first grade class enjoyed your live animal school visit. I was fortunate to have been one of the many whose professional life was so enriched by Wayne's patient and thoughtful mentoring. My favorite memory is of the day I walked into his studio to seek his opinion on a new environmental education program I was planning. Using both sides of his brain at once, as always, Wayne explained how a different program might work better; all without missing a single brush stroke as he applied color to a red-tailed hawk's tail feathers. I've long forgotten my naïve program idea, but will always remember his telling me his lack of patience with artists who paint birds with an inexact number of tail feathers.

Dear Melodee,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I think of you often and of all the knowledge and compassion you shared with me and all of your students at Hackett Middle School. I loved when Wayne would come to school accompanied by his beautiful birds and art work. He was one in a million.

I remember Wayne as such an active person and constantly working. On a work trip with him, I woke up at 7 AM to find that Wayne had been up for 2 hours or more, exercising, then working on a painting project for the magazine. He lived life to the fullest. Rest in peace...

I remember Wayne as a tireless worker. Traveling with him for work, I woke up at 7 AM to find that Wayne had been up for at least 2 hours, went for a walk and worked on a painting. Wayne was always engaged and purpose-driven, yet had time to help anyone. Rest in peace.

Dear Melodee and the Trimm Family,
Rick and I are so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful friend. No matter when we saw him he would always smile and be friendly. Our son John still has the wonderful sketch that Wayne did for him oh so many years ago!!! His love of nature and his family and friends will always remain in the hearts of all that knew him. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Wayne for many years at DEC and really enjoyed his artistry, even more so, the man. Wayne was always available for advice or just a casual chat. Rest in Peace, my friend.

The one word that resounds to me about Wayne Trimm is giving. I was honored to have known him and the Trimm family from the 1960s to present. Artist, teacher, lover of the environment and a good human being. Your passing is morned but your legacy will always be that great shining light.

My deepest sympathy to Melodee and the Trimm Family. Wayne was a big influence on my life, first when I was a youngster, through his work in the Conservationist Magazine. Later I knew him as a leader for conservation and education in the field of bowhunting. I first met Wayne when I attended ESF (then the College of Forestry) and shot on an archery team with his son, Tracy. After that, Wayne and I worked together as fellow members of archery organizations, and later when I came to work at DEC, where his knowledge and talents were much appreciated in the development of the Bowhunter Education Program. After he retired from DEC he remained active in the program, freely donating his time, knowledge and talents. I'll always remember how he pursued his interests in a big way, but with humility. He made major contributions without seeking recognition. The examples he set, as well as the art that he left us, will live on.

Wayne and Melodee have been very special neighbors to the Ray and Joan Rogers family for many, many years!! I will always remember his owl in the barn, .... He and my Mom often visited and had a love of animals in common. Great friends, wonderful neighbors!! Peace to you, Wayne and comfort for you, Melodee!!

I never knew my Uncle Wayne well. As a result, I have "snapshot" memories of him...such as when he invited a couple of us nephews to walk with him as he did an archery trail at a local park, years ago. He never missed.
My most recent memory was a few years ago when he and two of my cousins met my wife and I at the Altamont Old Songs festival for a day of music and talk. That was a good time.
Wayne lived a wonderful life, doing just what he wanted while enriching the world with his paintings and drawings. I am proud to have been related to him.
