1951 - 2016 PITTSFIELD Ernest Vincent Salvatore Jr., 64, of 39 Alcove Street, Pittsfield, died June 10, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsfield, on August 26, 1951, the son of the late Ernest V. Salvatore, Sr., and Mary Zaccari he was educated in local schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. Ernie spent most of his career working as a laborer for G. H. Maxymillian. Ernie was a longtime member of the Free Masons and specifically the Upton Lodge of Cheshire MA; he was also a member of the Berkshire Shriners Club. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church where he was an active participant in many church fundraisers, specifically the Festival of Sharing Roots, and was a member of the church beautification group which was responsible for maintenance services around the church and rectory property. Ernie is survived by his wife; Sally A. Salvatore, whom he married February 13, 1995 in Midland, TX, three daughters; Kristen Sottile and her husband, Mark, Joanne Salvatore and Julianna Willey. He was also a strong mentor to his three step-children; Kellie Demary, Kristopher Demary and Adam Demary. He also leaves a sister; Corinne McNeil, a brother; Thaddeus Collins; two grandsons; Brandon McNeice and Mathew Sottile and his step-grandchildren, Andrew LaDoucer, Emily LaDoucer, Hanna Potts and Keeley Demary and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for Ernest Vincent Salvatore Jr., 64, who died June 10, 2016, will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 10a.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor of St. Joseph Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Ernie's memory may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA or a charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home.

Ernie, you were a big influence in my teenage years. Maybe not so good at times, ha. I'm sorry for stealing your Dodge Coronet while I was babysitting your kids. And then running out of gas on Holmes Road. Despite my actions, you still loved me and treated me like your own. You will be missed by so many. Rest in peace my brother. We're all God's children. I hope to see you again.

Sorry for your loss. It is always difficult and sometimes moreso when a loved one is taken early and suddenly. Reading about Ernie, I see that he was a very generous person and gave himself to many. Those many are there for each other now and will be able to support one another as they remember all the great things about the life of Ernest Salvatore, Jr!
Without a doubt, Ernie is in a great place now enjoying the fruits of a life lived well.

Its sad to see such a good friend and person pass. Ernest my Friend You and I go back to when we were kids, we grew together, we laugh and we enjoyed each others company. I remember the last time we saw one another, I was raising money for the VFW at a local market, You stopped and like always you left me laughing, well that was you and I will miss u my friend.
