John R. Ryan
1923 - 2010 PITTSFIELD John R. Ryan, 87, formerly of 41 Clark Rd., died Friday, July 2, 2010, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Pittsfield Feb. 23, 1923, son of James and Ruth Robbins Ryan, he was a 1941 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was in World War II in the Army. He worked at General Electric Co. in Ordinance as a production supervisor for 43 years. He was a member of the Berkshire Full Gospel Church, a member of the G.E Quarter Century club, G.E. Pensioners Club, GEAA, and the Pittsfield V.F.W. League.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. He was married to the late Eleanor Leonardi Ryan. They married May 10, 1947, and she died Jan. 22, 1995.
He leaves one son, Jeffrey M. Ryan, and his wife, Joyce, of Southampton; one daughter, Sheryl J. Martin and her husband, Harold, of Middlefield; and four sisters, Katherine Elmstron of Pittsfield, Eleanor Cronin of New York State, Jean Leonardi of Hinsdale and Barbara Allen of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a funeral service at Berkshire Full Gospel Church at 10:30 a.m. on Elm St.. with the Rev. Phyllis Hostetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Missions at Berkshire Full Gospel Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. 01201.

Sherry, So sorry to read about your Pa. He was always a plesant and interesting man. He spoke warmly of you and your brother. I hope you find solace in knowing you took such great care of him. Also, am sorry he never made it back to his dear home. John and my brother, Dave, shared a room at Greylock.
