HINSDALE -- Joseph J. Ryan Sr., 73, of 64th St., Woodside, N.Y., and Hinsdale, died June 3 at home.
Born in Berkley, Ill., on March 17, 1932, son of John and Helen Coleman Ryan, he was educated there. He earned an associate's degree from NYU-American Institute of Banking.
He was in the Naval Reserve in the early 1950s.
Mr. Ryan was employed as an auditor at banking institutions before retiring at age 62.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Woodside. He enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and repairing old furniture.
He leaves his wife, the former Jeanne Collins of Hinsdale, of 43 years, whom he married Sept. 10; three sons, Joseph J. Ryan Jr. of Hamilton, Garrett Ryan of Woodside, and Christopher Ryan of Manhattan; a daughter, Susan Gallo of Glen Oaks, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary's Church in Woodside. Burial followed in St. Patrick's Cemetery under the direction of the PAPAVERO FUNERAL HOME, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth, NY 11378.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
