Boyd Marion Hyder Sr.

HENDERSONVILLE, NC-- Boyd Marion Hyder, Sr., 83, of Hendersonville went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Pardee Memorial Hospital.
A native and life long resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Leola and Charles Hyder. He was married to Mary Lee Johnson Hyder on May 24, 1958, who preceded him in death on February 11, 2013. He attended Dana High School and was a member of King's Grove Baptist Church and had recently attended Fruitland Baptist Church. He enjoyed gospel music, fishing, gardening and watching baseball. He was a loving husband and father. He proudly served his country in the Korean War as a machine gunner in the Army.
He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Lloyd Edwin Hyder and Boyd Marion Hyder Jr.; his brothers, Harley Hyder, Barley Hyder, Burgeon Hyder and Wilson Hyder; his sisters, Annie Hyder, Bertha Derksen, Ollie Stepp and Mildred Smith.
He is survived by his sister, Alice Corn and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Dr. Michael Smith and Rev. Ivey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Henderson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
