Remembering Isaac brings to mind an article I read about lifestyle businesses where the idea is to enjoy what you do. Every business has a bottom line that can be difficult at times but all in all I think Isaac really enjoyed what he was doing. I really enjoyed talking to him.

Mr Beck was a very rare human being that has really left his mark on this earth in so many memorable ways by his thoughtfulness and sense of purpose and foresight and his generosity to so many people in an abundance of ways over his lifetime. He will never be forgotten.

In thinking about Isaac during the 27 years that I knew him a few things stand out aside from his delightful unique sense of humor. Most importantly I think he found a way to live creatively that I know all his tenants on Wareham Street can
relate to. I know in 1993 when he rented us the space behind
our 400 square foot Retail Space that there was a change in his plans because of an unexpected visit from his Mortality.
" Just build a wall" he said. And when I finished building the wall and had a space carved out I knew he had given me something I really wanted. I think these buildings and his businesses were an expression of his creative way of living
and prolonged his life. He was doing what he wanted to do.
He was surrounded by creative people. "You can do anything
you want here, you can dance the Tarantella for all I care."
What a gift.

Mr. Beck was an amazing independent minded man. I'll be forever grateful for the space he has provided for artists. He told me that when he found a box of oil paints in Wareham Street he said to himself, " If they can paint then so can I!' I loved when his studio was on the first floor and I could walk by and see what he was painting. My condolences.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Beck passing. He was the best landlord in town. I remember how he didn't raise our studio rent for years and decades. He mostly cared that he liked his tenants as people AND artists, and he was a pretty good painter himself. I hope he is with artists up there.

Mr. Beck's kind and generous spirit benefitted so many of Boston's working studio artists... He will be sorely missed. I will always carry very fond and warm memories of many terrific conversations about art and life with him on Wareham St., and through the window of his big white van with his big white dog. I will miss him very much. Sincerest condolescences to his family. May he find the rest and reward his so rightly deserves. Rest in Peace, Mr. Beck.

Mr. Beck was always good to me. I rent one of his building in the South End and every time he came around to visit he would tell me a story and make me laugh. I found myself repeating his stories to my coworkers trying to imitate Mr. Becks laugh at the end. People can touch so many and choose to do so in many ways. His Touch was all good. I always kept my eye out for Mr. Beck in the neighborhood because I knew if I talked with him, I would be leaving with a smile. He will truly be missed.

Our Showroom, genuineantiquelighting.net/Light Power has been housed in one of Isaac's buildings for decades. He always had his pups with him and you could see his affection for them. He was a great storyteller.

We will miss him. So sorry.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Beck's passing. I worked for Mr. Beck from 1978 starting in High School and through my college years up to 1983. He taught all of us the value of a hard day's work.
May he rest in peace and deepest condolences to Mrs. Beck and the family.
Sincerely,
