MARY "JEAN" CLIFFORD

CLIFFORD, Mary "Jean" (Gillis) Devoted wife of 62 years to Timothy Clifford died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Dedham. Born in Doctors Brook, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Catherine Marcella (Macdonald) Gillis. She came to the "states" in 1951, got a job at Sears and Roebuck in Kenmore Square where she met and married the love of her life, Timothy. Jean devoted her life to the care of her husband and six children. Her baking skills were unparalleled and deeply appreciated by all who came to know her. Jean's seventeen grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She was proud of their accomplishments and deeply loved by all of us. We lost a wife, a mother, and grandmother, her steady, loving goodness can not be replaced. She valued kindness and lived it. As a devout Catholic, Jean was a valued member of St. Mary's Church, Dedham. She was a Past Prefect of the St. Mary's Church Sodality, a Camp Fire Leader, and volunteered at her children's school's. Beloved wife of Timothy S. Clifford. Devoted mother of Timothy Clifford and his wife Nancy of Augusta, ME, Joan Dambruch and her husband Kevin of Milton, Stephen Clifford and his wife Denise of Dedham, Paul Clifford and his wife Susan of Norwood, Anne Bradley of Sandwich, and Joseph Clifford and his wife Lynne of Medfield. Loving grandmother of Timothy and his wife Crystal) and Kaitlin Clifford, Sean, Cameron, Jeremy, and Kevin Clifford, Matthew, Megan, and Emily Clifford, Catherine and Mairead Dambruch, Brian and Carolyn Bradley, and Julia, Jane, Laura, and Peter Clifford. Sister of  Sister Loretta Gillis of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Kay Williams of Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Ronald Gillis of Doctors Brook, Nova Scotia, and the late Donald, Bernard, and John Hugh Gillis and Annabelle Cameron. Sister-in-law of Father Donald Clifford of Plymouth, and the late John and James Clifford, and Ann Murtagh. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and Massachusetts and many wonderful friends in Dedham and Palm Harbor, FL. Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Monday, Oct. 17 at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Dedham, at 9am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
