DIANE STELFOX Obituary

STELFOX, Diane E. (Cargulia) Age 93, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Stelfox. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Guydon and Adeline (Wolz) Cargulia. Diane was a graduate of Brooklyn's Saint Agnes Seminary High School and continued her education at NYC Community College, earning an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene. She then worked for New York Life on Madison Avenue as one of three dental hygienists on staff for health examinations. In 1959, Diane vacationed on Cape Cod and met Harold, her future husband. They were married a year later and settled in West Roxbury. While raising their daughter, she maintained her hygienist career, working two part time jobs, one in Dorchester and the other in Westwood. When she was unable to work for two years due to a bout with cancer, Diane earned a bachelors of science in allied health at Northeastern University. An experience she would remember fondly and speak about how her husband and daughter would both be waiting to see her end of semester grades. Diane earned a masters degree in pastoral ministry at Emmanuel College. She served a practicum at Rosie's Place, an experience she would remember with fondness. After Harold became suddenly ill and died in 1984 Diane returned to hygienist work, where she was employed for many years in Needham and worked part time in the county prison system. Diane moved to Natick with her daughter's new family and began work with the office of Dr. Schelman in Brookline. She retired at age 79. Since then, she has enjoyed spending days at Bethany in Framingham, sewing and enjoying the company of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Diane was also active as a greeter at the 7:30 Mass at Saint Patrick's Church in Natick and assisted at wedding rehearsals. She spent "spare time" gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Cook; grandson, Matthew Doyle along with his wife, Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Timothy and Margaret; and grandson, Brian Doyle along with his wife, Abigail; and cousin, Jim Bacon and his wife, Madeline. She was also the sister of the late Guydon Cargulia, Jr. Diane was warm and kind and will always be remembered for making everyone's day brighter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen road, Wellesley, on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:00 am. Please join the family for coffee in the church hall following. Donations may be made in Diane's name to the Sisters of Saint Joseph Boston, 637 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA 02135 or https://www.csjboston.org/ways-to-give/make-a-gift/ For online guestbook, please visit: www.everettfuneral.com John Everett & Sons Natick 508 653 4342
