JOSEPH PHILLIP JANGRO

JANGRO, Joseph Phillip Joseph Phillip Jangro (Joe), age 79 of Windham, NH, passed away on Friday, May 26th. Joe was born in Stoneham, MA, the eldest son of the late Edmond P. and Alice V. (Pistey) Jangro. He was raised in Melrose, MA where he attended public schools and graduated from Melrose High School in 1955. He was a three-sport athlete and inducted into the Melrose High School Hockey Hall of Fame. From there he went on to Boston College where he was a member of the hockey team, winning two Beanpot Championships. He captained the team his senior year to a final four appearance, earned First Team All American honors in 1959, and was inducted into the Boston College Hockey Hall of Fame. After College, Joe played hockey with the Eastern Olympics, Melrose Boosters, Manchester Blackhawks, and then Senior Hockey Leagues until he was well into his 70's. Joe raised his family in Melrose and Wakefield before moving to Windham, NH, where he had resided for the past 10 years. Joe was one of the founders of Lionex Corporation, which was acquired in 1986. From there he went on to co-found Advanced Media Services, Inc. with his son, Bob in 1991. He was an avid golfer and a member of Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, MA. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sandra DellaRusso and Joyce Stemple. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Monica M. (Toomey) Jangro of Windham, NH, and by his sons, Joseph and his wife Susan Jangro of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Robert and his wife, Jennifer Jangro of Reading, MA, as well as his brothers, William Jangro and his wife, Carol of Ocala, FL, Donald Jangro and his wife, Ann Marie of Sandown, NH, and Bruce Jangro and his wife, Carol of Wakefield, MA. Joe is also survived by his loving grandchildren, David, Stephen, Jake, Nicholas, Robert, Michael, and Constance Jangro, as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3rd at 10 AM at St. Matthew's Church, Windham, NH. Burial will follow in Cemetery on the Plain, Windham. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Friday, June 2nd from 4-8 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd., Windham, NH.
