BERNARD S. COOPER

1948 - 2021

COOPER, Bernard S. Of Norwood, MA, passed on Sunday, Jan. 24th, at the age of 72, after a brief journey with cancer. Born Feb. 24, 1948, to the late Otis and Yetta Cooper of Norwood. Survived by his wife, Connie, of thirty-seven years; and his four children, Sam and his companion Brinni, Alisha and her companion Sam, Josh, and Amelia and her husband Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Marianne and her husband David, and her children, Daniel and Sarah. Graduate of Norwood High, class of 1965, and graduate of Tufts University, he went on to work for the town of Norwood for forty-nine years where he served as assistant town manager and civil defense director. He loved spending his summers at Blueberry Hill while spending his winters helping other people shovel. You could usually catch him driving around in his recognizable pickup truck, checking in on his neighbors and offering a helping hand. A proud patron of the Mug'n Muffin and the Brookside Cafe, Bernie was a regular and welcome face to local business all across town. He was known to allocate an extra hour whenever he left somewhere just so he could say goodbye to everyone present. A staple of Norwood, Bernie worked tirelessly to the end and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. His family is beyond humbled by the outpouring of love and support.
