The world lost a bright light over the week end. Carrie Lou Ivins passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 28th. Her passions included her family, her faith, her friends and all of Gods animals. She left behind a family who loved her profoundly which included her husband and best friend Tony Ivins and beautiful children Kristin and Eric. There will be a vigil service held on Friday night, May 4th, at 6:30p at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic church in Auburn. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 5th, at 10:00am, also at St. Teresa Church, followed by a celebration of her life in the parish hall.

The family requests in lieu of flowers any donations may be sent to Gold Country Wildlife (P.O. Box 4162, Auburn CA 95604) or The Ivins Children Fund at Granite Community Bank in Auburn (PO Box 488, Auburn CA 95604).

Words cannot express the deep loss that I felt this morning as I learned of Carrie's passing. I called St. Therese this morning to talk to Carrie about 2 baby sand doves that were found by one of my coworkers. I knew that Carrie would know where to go and what to do. I had immediate recollection of sharing an office with her at St. Joseph's for more than a year. Her laughter and smile were a joy in each and every day; her support and assistance was above the call of duty; and the friendship we developed was a blessing to me on many difficult days. I am a better person because of knowing Carrie Ivins. Her faith and spirit were infectious and I know that she is with Jesus today in heaven. She spoke so often and so lovingly of all her family, especially Tony and Kristen and Eric. I hope you all know how much Carrie loved you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be.

My heartfelt sympathy and prayers,

Michelle & Bill Sammons

Although we only met Carrie and Tony once, we could easily tell the love they had for each other and their families, and they immediately were an example my husband and I have tried to follow. Our prayers go out to Tony and the family. God Bless.

Dear Tony, Kristin & Eric, & Lemmon Family:

It was with heartfelt sadness that I heard the news of Carrie's passing. Carrie was one of the most special people I have ever met, someone that truly brings joy, love, caring and comfort to all she meets. It was a joy to have known her. God Bless you and your family.

Tony, Kristin, and Eric,
The memories of our association with your family are so clear and joyful. Although we have not seen you for many years, remembering Carrie is so easy to do. She made just that kind of impression. May all of you find peace through the Lord she loved so much.

Dear Tony, Kristen, Eric, Bob, Diana and family,

I will never forget the fact that when Carrie was in Intensive Care and Fr. Mike went to visit her, she told him to be sure to go down the hall to visit my dad, who was in the hospital at the same time. That was Carrie, always thinking about other people (and animals) before herself. I am so gratified that I was able to see her, talk to her and hug her, not knowing it would be for the last time. My dad is now also with her and our heavenly Father and I feel the strength they are both giving us all to carry on their legacy of love. My love and compassion to you all.

Tony and family - We first met Carrie's heartwarming smile and gentle way at St. Joseph's/St. Teresa's Sunday School classes many years ago. Since then we received her smile during church services. She is with the Lord, watching you, caring for you and loving you. We keep you in our daily prayers.

Dear Tony, Kristin & Eric,
Every once in a while we meet people in our lives that leave an indelible mark on us and on our hearts. Carrie was one of those people to me. We met when she offered her help to coordinate the scheduling and training of the altar servers and I was needing all the help I could get in organizing the parish liturgical committee. She brought so much enthusiasm and optomism to our group. I am so very sorry for your loss and assure you of my prayerful remembrances that you have lots of friends and family to stand by you and support you in the days ahead.

Dear Tony, Kristin & Eric, Paul, Penny & Kate,

Carrie will be a big loss in our community and the children and families involved in our CCD.
I never thought when I hug her last Easter Vigil mass that it will be the last time I will see her.
Carrie, you will surely be missed by all the people you have touched in your lifetime.
Our prayers are with you and the rest of the family.

Dear Carrie's beloved family,
I still can't find the proper words to express my shock and sadness. Carrie was such a bright light...sparkling smile...fun laugh...great member of the Bimbos...and a wonderful dog OB/GYN. I will never forget her sitting in the corner in my dark garage delivering 8 puppies, of which 1 went home with her! The world is a sadder place without Carrie. HOWEVER - I truly believe that the goal in life is to leave the world a better place because you were in it. That being the case, Carrie has truly met and exceeded her goal. With thoughts, love and prayers,
Mindy

To all of Carrie's family,

My deepest sympathies and sorrow for your loss. My memories of Carrie are her big smile and at Bimbo weekend all the Bimbos would boot her and Penny out of the kitchen because they were the great chefs. The rest of us...well we really did need their help.

I still cannot believe it. Everyone that I have spoken to at Church and School expresses the same shock & disbelief. This world has suffered a huge loss. Though heaven has gained a very special person. Carrie was someone who always would lend a hand to help whoever needed it. Our community including the wildlife babies have suffered a huge loss of a truely caring and special person. Please know that there are so many people praying for your family.

Dear Tony, Bob, Diana, and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you especially during this time of great sorrow. I look fondly back upon the time that Carrie, Diana and I taught CCD together. Carrie was an amazing woman and she brought great joy to those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her fabulous smile was such a gift! Although our hearts are heavy with grief we know that our Lord's perpetual light is shining upon her sweet soul.
God bless you all.
Your friend,
Dina Gillette

To know Carrie was to know a friend for life. No matter how much time had passed she would always greet you with her infectious smile and a warm hug. Carrie was truly genuine - always authentic which was a true gift to those who knew her as we were able to witness and be a part of her amazing spirit. Words cannot describe the support and love that I know surrounds her family whom she adored with all her heart and soul. As we struggle to understand what seems so incomprehensible, I pray that we can find the courage to honor her by living her truth – be sincere in nature, kind in heart, and compassionate to all.
