CATHERINE JOYCE Obituary

JOYCE, Catherine (Corbett) Passed away in Falmouth, MA surrounded by family on May 10, 2016 at the age of 83, after a long illness. Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Roland "Bud" Joyce. Cathy is lovingly remembered by her son, Chad Waite and his wife, Susan, of Whitefish, MT; her son, David Waite and his wife, Heather, of Walpole, MA; her daughter, Cathy Sullivan, of Franklin, MA; and her daughter, Patti Bishop and her husband, Bruce, of Wellesley, MA. She is survived by eleven grandchildren: Alexis Waite, CP Waite, Stephen Waite, Brooke Waite, Corey Waite, Kelly Meredith, Ashley Meredith, Chad Sullivan, Milly Bishop, Kim Bishop, Matthew Bishop; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Waite. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Jackie Pescatore and her husband, Philip, of Marshfield, MA. Cathy was born in Newburgh, NY on October 26, 1932. She graduated from Manchester High School in Connecticut in 1949. Cathy raised her four children with her first husband, Charles Waite, while living in Wellesley, MA from 1960 – 1983. Cathy served on the board of the Wellesley Garden Club and was actively involved in parent leadership roles at the Dana Hall and Rivers Schools. In 1983, Cathy moved to Boston, where she served as the President of The French Library for many years. She earned recognition from the French government for her support of French culture in the United States. She married Bud in 1985 and they enjoyed living on Beacon Hill, Falmouth and winters in North Palm Beach, FL. Together with her husband, Bud, she founded and led CTC Minerals in New Orleans, LA in 1989. They retired to her summer home in Falmouth permanently in 2005. She enjoyed tennis, needlepoint, reading and playing bridge with her wonderful lifelong friends including Joanne McSherry. An avid sports fan, she loved all the Boston teams and any team her children played on. She rarely, if ever, missed an opportunity to cheer for her children and grandchildren in an athletic endeavor. Cathy was never as happy as when she was surrounded by her husband, children and their families at her home overlooking Buzzards Bay. A celebration of life will be held at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington Street, Wellesley Hills on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington St, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481 or donate online at www.curealz.org.
