Aw Dad - though a decade has gone by in the blink of an eye our missing you has not diminished.
I miss your calling to me during a sporting event on tv to come watch the replay.
I miss your feigning surprise when we would first arrive for a visit in Avon.
I miss looking up and seeing you wave, first from the side window, and then the front, as we backed out of the driveway.
I miss helping you unload Christmas presents from your car.
I miss the anticipation, as kids, of you coming home On a Friday night with treats from DQ.
Mostly I just miss knowing you were there even if I was 90 miles away.
We love and miss you Dad. You are a part of us always

Mom & Dad ...
Sitting here on this somewhat significant day, to me anyway, wishing you were both here to celebrate with us.
Remembering the birthday, when I worked in Boston, and you called me and both serenaded me with Happy Birthday.
All the birthday cards, some with cash, others with checks, always with a note from Mom to "get something for yourself."
Love you both so much.

Dad...played golf this weekend with Sam. Whenever we golf together our thoughts turn to you. Sam asked if you were lefty or righty and I told him while you were righty you could actually hit from both sides. Sam, a lefty, has now decided he wants to learn to hit righty, so he can be like Papa. Miss you Dad.

Dad - Saw Mom this weekend and she gave us the coins you had collected and the bicentennial letters. It was such a surprise but of course typical of you. Sam and Olivia were so taken with your gesture. They poured through the coins, opening each package and carefully sealing them again. Sam has had all the packages of coins with him in bed every night since. You continue to have such a big impact on us. We love you so much.

It was a sunny day. Although it seems like yesterday, I can't recall if it was warm or not. I remember walking around the yard, and the house in which we grew up, puttering in the basement, wondering how many hundreds of times you had traveled the same path. I thought of the trips to the grocery store when I was very young, just to be able to spend time with you. And remembered the day, among others, when everyone surprised you with golf clubs bringing a tear to your eye. That sunny day four years ago... Our grieving may have stopped since but our sorrow chills within us still, warming when thoughts and memories of you shine upon us like the sun that day.

So 12 yrs ago, it was the day after 9/11 and two days after Patrick's
diagnosis. I had taken that week off from work not only to take Pat
into Boston to see the specialist but also to paint the house.
Joe and I painted the entire house ourselves that
summer and I still had some trim work to do. (well mostly Joe did it...)
I had dropped Pat off at the sitters and was on the deck working
on the trim. It was probably 9ish. And dad showed up with his work
clothes and shoes under his arm. Asked if I needed help.
I was so happy to see him.
It was a beautiful sunny Sept day. Dad talked about how quiet it
was cause there was a no fly zone. And how he thought even though
it was crazy and sad what had happened the day before, he thought
it would bring the country together... and reminded him of when the US
went into WWII. Everyone was so patriotic. And he was right cause
people started hanging flags that week in front of their houses.
I ended up bringing down the lil tv and plugging it
in on the deck so we could watch the news .... and paint.
So much had changed that week because of Patrick and 9/11. It
was nice to have dad there. I'm sure he was eager to help. But maybe
thought I would need some company because of all that was going on
with Patrick.
I would go back there in a heartbeat to spend that day with dad....
even if it meant reliving the hard times.

Hey Dad ... Liv had a swim meet this weekend and qualified for New England Age groups. Meet was at MIT. Felt as though you gave Liv a little push to help her. She was so excited and happy.
