To the family of Father Daley, may God bless you in this time of sorrow. I have known Father Daley since he arrived in Malden to become Pastor at St. Joseph's. He was always there for me, whether it was visiting me in the hospital, my sons First Communion, or the deaths of my parents. Father Daley was a frequent visitor of my dad, after he suffered a stroke. I visited him at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital a few weeks prior to his passing. He seemed to enjoy the visit and actually smiled a couple of times. We talked about family, friends (Sister Mary) and his days as a Chaplain for Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Pastor at St. Joseph's. As my visit was ending with Father Daley, he was a little tired, but in good spirits. He gave me a blessing before leaving him. However, I was the one blessed by knowing him.

May he rest in peace!

May his soul rest in peace. Our condolences to his family, may they find solace in the fact that he was an honorable man of great faith and was beloved.

Fr. Daley was a happy memory to all the Prendergast family. We all remember him from St. Mary's in Melrose when our father was the President of the Holy Name Society. He was there for our family when we lost our parents. Our prayers are with all his family and friends.

Our sincere condolences to Father Daley's family and friends. He was a wonderful priest and person; always there for you and the family. He knew the Dwyer's from Melrose well and pointed them all out during baptisms and communions for our children at St. Joseph's Church, Malden. When it was "Rut's" time, I called him to come to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and he never hestitated and was there for him. May he rest in peace now and know he will be thoroughly missed by all those who knew him.

If only they could make a movie of this man's life, and show it to all who aspire to the calling of religious life as an example of what one does in Holy Orders! Alas, a man of senses;devotion to God and his faith, his fellow man and of course, quite a fine sense of humor. As Good Saint Paul tells us, the race was well run and over, and after fighting the good fight, I am very certain that Father John has already heard the words, "Welcome, my good and faithful servant". Say a prayer for us Father, as we will for you. Sleep well. P.S. I wonder if Father Daley ever told anyone where the basketball is that Msgr. Mooney raffled off twelve times?

I remember Father Daley from St. Mary's in Melrose and from Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He came to the house when my father died and sat with us and then came to see me in the labor room 3 days later! That was quite a weekend! I don't know if he celebrated Mass that weekend, but we were told that our family was included in the Prayer of the Faithful.

I just remembered a funny story from that tragic time. The night my Dad died, my sister got to my parents' just as Father Daley came out the door. She saw the light reflected off his head (sorry, Father!) and thought that it was my Dad coming out the door. So, for a second, she thought it was a mistake and that my father was home and okay! Isn't it strange the things you remember?

Thank you, Father Daley, for everything. God bless you. Rest in peace.

I am so saddened to learn of Fr. John's passing. He has been such a long-time friend and spiritual advisor to my family and was with us all during my grandnephew's tragic accident and subsequent death. His love and support meant more than he ever realized, I'm sure. He was a loving, caring and compassionate priest and friend. My family will really miss him so much. If anyone is in Heaven it is certainly him. Rest in peace, Fr. John until we meet again.

We at Saint Agnes will miss Father Daley tremendously. He was a joy, and his faith and love for his vocation were so apparent. I will always remember how he faithfully prayed at each Mass for the men and women "who have lost their lives in the tragedy of war." May his soul rest in peace.
