Our prayers are with you at the death of your Dad, grandfather, brother, father-in-law. We loved having "Mr. Rifchin" for our neighbor. My family was touched by his kindnesses to us over the years on Longfellow Road. Sometimes when I walked home from school, past his business, he would smile and wave at me and I knew I had a friend in the route home. We will never forget the yellow flower-roofed car he gave Debbie! His calm, generous love of his family is a gift to you and a sweet memory for me.

While Marvin was a good businessman, he was also a most knowledgeable fan of all things auto racing. He was like a kid who would bubble with excitement and enjoyment of racing and used this as a motivation to create great tires for us. In the late 70's through the late 80's, Marvin's M & H tires won most (all?) of the Modified class championships of the Sports Car Club of America's Solo II National Championships (autocrossing). He even made custom alterations during the manufacturing process to tune his standard race tire to suit the Banshee BG-1 & 2. He applied his "softest" compound to a new tire skeleton and put special stiffeners into the sidewalls to better work with my super-light weight formula car (435 lbs). We won six A & D Modified National Championships and five fastest time of day/event with my Banshee BG2 alone. If Marvin referred to you as a "racer", you knew that you had arrived. Rest well Marvin. You made the world a better and more interesting place.

I'm proud to say I knew Marv. He helped me many times at the track with tire advice, but most of all, with his genuine caring attitude. He was a genius in his field, and an even better man.

I am very sad to hear the passing of a very dear friend that so helped our sport continue to the next level. I'm also proud to say that the Bubble Up FC - Jerry Verheul (RIP); Ron Hodgson, and myself were the last racecar EVER to win on M&H Racemasters in NHRA competition. Godspeed Marvin; you will be SO missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Rifchin family at this time. I am a former drag racer and writer. I wrote an article on Marv for Super Stock Magazine in the 80's. He was a great friend to racers and pioneer in his field. He will be missed.
