Our hearts are saddened by this loss. All three of my childen loved Maureen, most especially my daughter Michelle. She was a wonderful teacher and I'm so glad they had her at the North School. She will be missed by many!

I was so saddened to hear the news of Mrs. Welch's passing. I was lucky enough to have her as my second grade teacher back 32 years ago at North School. She has always remained in my heart as my most favorite teacher. I can still see her classroom and her reading "James and the Giant Peach" to the class. She was such a kind and thoughtful person. Years later, when I had my daughter, I received a card in the mail from her, which truly touched me. I will keep her and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I couldn't believe it when I heard about this. It saddens me to think that we're short another bright star. I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Welch through her teachings at South School. Though I never had her, my brothers all did and I knew her as a second teacher. I used to go to her math nights and, before I could even attend elementary school, used to attend her Halloween parties with my brothers. I will miss her forever and my heart goes out to her family in this trying time.

Jack, Jean and family: I am saddened to learn of Maureen's untimely passing. She leaves many personal and professional legacies. We met at Gilchrist's, a department store in Redstone in the '60's that supported a cadre of struggling college students. Although our careers diverged they came together again when she and Nancy Smith developed the "Tools of History" program to teach third graders about Stoneham's heritage. She said it was the best summer job she ever had! I will remember her enthusiasm for life and her wonderful sense of humor. God bless.

Jack, The members of the Minuteman Chapter Buick Club of America, which you founded, are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Maureen. Maureen was our first lady and a gracious hostess of our member and business meetings in your home. Her special Buick blonde brownies were always a treat to be expected at most occassions. At most Buick club events locally, regionally, and nationally that you attended, Maureen was by your side, as in the photo here at the 1999 BCA National Meet in Columbus, OH where you were inspecting David Buckman's 1952 Super Estate being washed. She will be missed by all.

Maureen was always kind, gentle and authentic person to be around. We have enjoyed many fun times at the past Buick events with her. Especially this last summer in Colorado Springs when we rode the train to the top of Pikes Peak with Maureen and Jack. We were on top of the world! We will always remember Maureen attached to Jack's side and making him happy ~ just like in this picture taken in Seattle at the 2007 BCA Nationals. Although we only spent a few days each year with her, she always greeted us as if we were one of her best friends. Maureen had such a sweet spirit and I know she has been welcomed at heaven's gate with open arms. She will truly be missed by many. Roy & Michelle Faries

So sorry to hear of Maureen's passing. I was happy to know her during my time at South School. I recall a very dedicated person who kept giving in various ways ie: Math nights, her "Spring Fling" etc.. She was very proud of Jack and his participation in the PanMass challenge. Keep Warm Thoughts & Memories.

We first met at North School as 3rd grade teachers. Even though we ended up in different schools our friendship never ended. I will miss not seeing you on Friday mornings at our "teacher breakfasts." Your "spring fling" was always a wonderful way for everyone to get together. My prayers are with you and your family--especially Jack. The 2 of you spent many wonderful years together. God bless you Maureen as God has called you home.
