ROBERT LOUIS "BOB" MEADE

1930 - 2019

MEADE, Robert Louis "Bob" Of Ft. Myers, FL, 89, died Friday, April 19, 2019 after a brief illness. He leaves behind his long-time, loving, devoted and caring companion of 45 years, Lois Boudreau and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Meade was predeceased by his beloved brothers Richard J. Meade and David G. Meade. Born and raised in Waltham, Massachusetts, the son of George L. Meade and Mary J. (Gately) Meade, Mr. Meade resided in Boston for many years, later dividing his time between Martha's Vineyard and Ft. Myers. After graduating from Boston College and Harvard Law School, Mr. Meade was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country in the Korean War, having received the Purple Heart. He later chaired the Massachusetts Office of Public Utilities during the tenure of Governor Francis Sargent. Mr. Meade maintained a private law practice at Hale & Dorr in Boston. Through the years, he also managed multiple businesses on Martha's Vineyard. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of the Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs, MA. In his later years, Bob enjoyed hosting many friendly and pleasurable rounds of golf with friends and family in both Massachusetts and Florida. While in Florida, Bob especially enjoyed his time with many close friends at the American Legion in Ft. Myers. A private family service will be held on Martha's Vineyard this coming summer.
