WILLIAM BURKE Obituary

BURKE, William P. Age 85, originally of Norwood, MA passed away on January 18, 2021 in Florida of natural causes. Bill was born on May 20,1935 to Jeremiah and Julia Burke in Norwood, MA. He raised his family in Walpole and leaves six children - David Burke, Susan Haley, Elizabeth Burke, Paul Burke, Ann Shaw and William Burke, Jr.; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His siblings, Anna Verrochi, Jeremiah Burke, Jane Mackie and Evelyn Sylvestri preceded him in death. William served in the Navy and was a shoe salesman most of his adult life. He enjoyed theater, golf and directed musical variety shows. He loved an audience and good humor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice at http://seasonsfoundation.org/donate/ or call 847-692-1000. Services will be held privately at Gillooly Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 30th at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Norwood with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Mr. Burke,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USN during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
