Eileen Harrington Obituary

Born April 2nd, 1908 in Castletownbere, County Cork, Ireland, She died on March 12, 2004 in Sarasota, FL. She was predeceased by her sister Mrs. Philip Spencer of Malden and her brother Bernard Harrington of Yonkers, NY. She is survived by her sister Ann O'Leary of Houston, TX, nephews Cornelius J. O'Leary, Leo Spencer and Michael Harrington and her niece Christine Harrington. She immigrated to Malden in her early years and earned a degree in nursing from St. Margaret's Hospital in Dorchester in 1933. She joined the U.S. Navy during WWII and was among the first group of Nurses stationed in Guam. Eileen was discharged as a Lieutenant and from there became a private duty nurse. In later years, she practiced nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Miami until her retirement. Funeral from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., MALDEN at Medford line, on Friday, March 19th at 9:30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church Chapel in Malden at 10:30. Relatives & friends invited. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass only. Services will conclude with Interment in Bourne National Cemetery at 1PM.
