I have a magnificent water color by Martin Ahearn gracing the west-wall of our den and am gazing at it now. The painting purchased in Boston during a visit with friends in the late 1970's. Unfortunately never able to meet the artist, certainly an estimable man. Apparently he lived a full and long life, giving and getting great pleasure with his family. Doubtless his gifts are treasured daily by many. Please accept these belated condolences myself and wife.

Martin Ahearn will long be remembered in our family as a great artist with deep feelings for others. He taught our son, David how to paint water colors in early 1980. From his art classes, David went on to college, earned art scholorships and works in the art field in Seattle today. We credit most of his success to Martin Ahearn.

Dear Pat, Peggy, Larry and Family,
We were saddened to hear of Martin's passing. I think of him now out painting somewhere and then enjoying a few pops! Had many good times at his Rockport home and pub with many a laughs! His spirit will always be with us.

Our condolences go out to Martin's family. We were saddened to hear of his passing. We have fond memories of his passion for art and life. My husband gave me a gift of watercolor classes with Martin many years ago and we had mutual friends, so we spent a good deal of time painting and sitting in the pub. Mary would bring us some cream cheese and pepper jelly, Martin would get us drinks, and we would laugh and talk for hours. He was a dear man who will be greatly missed. We have several paintings from Martin in our home in Arlington and we just brought his Darby's world print to our new condo in New Hampshire. He will be forever remembered in our hearts.

Martin's passing is truly a sad time for me. He was a mentor to me, and as such, taught me how to teach others how to paint watercolor. As a coma survivor, Martin and I shared in his recovery and spoke many times about how, to not only be a full time artist, but about recovery of our health. I will miss our phone chats. He was a wonderful man who passed on his knowledge freely and with enthusiasm. Ellen and I extend our heartfelt prayers to Martin's family.

Peggy, Pat, Larry and family,
I was saddened deeply this morning, when I heard of Martin's passing. Martin taught me a lot about watercolor, but more importantly, a lot about life. Memories of his unruffled demeanor, skill at telling a joke or story to make people laugh and ability to pour a perfect Guinness will remain with me forever. He was a painter/teacher, a family man, and Irish-American. It doesn't get much better than that! My sincerest condolences to all.

Our condolences and thoughts go out to our family members most deeply touched by the loss of Uncle Martin. I have proudly displayed the painting he and Aunt Mary gifted to me some 35 years ago. Love to all...

My most sincere sympathy to Peggy, Larry (TK), Pat and all in Martin's extended family. I hold fond memories of your dad, mom and all of you, especially during my early "growing up" years in Rockport's South End. My thoughts & prayers remain with you all.
