Dear Lois, Abbott, Barbara and family,

Although we never had the privilege of meeting your dad and grandad, his spirit and warmth were apparent to us from the stories and memories you've shared.
He was clearly a remarkable man who deeply loved his family and friends and in return was beloved. We were so sorry to hear of his passing.

May the God of all comfort grant you peace at this time. (2 Cor. 1:3)

To my dearest nieces, Barbara and Lois. I remember Bernie back to the early days of our engagement (over 63 years ago) and he never ceased to amaze me with his wit, brilliance and love of family. He will surely be missed, but REMEMBERED by all who had the honor of knowing him. Bernie was a people person and had a wide list of friends (just think hundreds of greeting cards ) He knew how to amaze people with his interest in an ever expanding range of topics. We will remember Bernie ever so fondly.
Love, Holly and Artie

Dear Lois, Barbara, and Abbott,
I was saddened to hear of Bernie's death, and know that he passed in peace and comfort, and that you took good care of in his final years. I remember him being very articulate and perceptive at my Aunt Ruth's (Weiner) funeral. I also remember him from my childhood when we occasionally went into his store on Washington St. in Boston. He was a hard working man who never stopped. He was the last of that generation, whom we all miss.

Dear Barbara, Lois, Abbott and family, My heart-felt sympathy in the loss of your father. My mother, Shirley (his first cousin) enjoyed conversing with him and cherished him. I had a wonderful conversation with your father previous to publishing my Winick/Weiner book. I wish that I had gotten to know my relatives on my mom's side of the family better. Being in Michigan for 45+ years prevented me, sadly, from getting to know all of you. Your father's smile in his photo will be a treasure in my heart. May he rest in peace.

Your third cousin,
Diana

Dear Lois, Barbara & Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss; mine and Alecia's thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this time. Bernie was one of a kind, a true character, and above all else, a genuine mensch. Like Sue, Bernie's storytelling, warmth and sense of humor drew people to him. He could light a room every time with his love of friends and family, and I'm proud to have known him in some small way as a distant relative. It's with deep sympathy that I say, "Rest easy, Bernie." Your loving memory lives on in Lois, Barbara and the rest of your wonderful family.

Lovingly,
Jim & Alecia

It is with deep sadness that I learned of Bernie's death. He was a kind and generous person who shared wonderful memories of his family with me and helped me put together the Anna Waldstein Mendelsohn branch of my family tree. He remembered everyone's name and had lots of stories, too. His entire family .. Sue, Lois, Abbott, and Barbara shared their warmth and thoughtfulness. His death is a big loss to everyone; He will be missed but never forgotten. My condolences to all.

Dear Barbara, Lois and Family---
It is with such fond memories that I reminisce about the 1960's and being invited to the Mendelsohn home for the Holidays. Your parents were the quintessential host and hostess.I will never forget their kindness in including me on these occasions. And I remember how proud you were Barbara, to bring me to meet your father for the first time at his jewelry store.
I am so sorry to hear the news.
Fondly,

Barbara, I was saddened to hear of your father's death. He was such a nice person and was so enthusiastic about life. I have fond memories of being with both your parents at your house at holidays. Every time I walk through the Boston Gardens, I picture your father on the swan boat ride. You were close to your father and have good memories. With deepest sympathy to you, Lois and Abbott. Pearl

My sincere sympathy to all the family members of Bernie. He was a wonderful man, and I enjoyed knowing him, his late wife Sue, and of course his daughter Lois, my dear friend who was devoted to her father visting him daily and bringing him foods that he loved. When he came to visit with Lois & Abbott here in NH, I would try to find him some of his diet moxie. You would have thought I gave him a million dollars. You will be missed, Bernie. Love to all the family
