ANNE HAFFENREFFER Obituary

HAFFENREFFER, Anne Gainsforth Born Aug 21, 1990 died Apr 15, 2013 of pulmonary complications. She was the daughter of Dr. Mark E. Haffenreffer and the late Ms. Nona Gainsforth Haffenreffer and the sister of Hartford Wilson Haffenreffer. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Newtons, 1310 Centre St Newton on Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's name may be made to The Charles River Center, 59 East Militia Heights Road, Needham Ma 02492 for the new South St. Residence for adults with complex medical and cognitive needs. Anne was born with Rett Syndrome which limited her abilities but had no effect on her personality. She could melt the paint off the walls with her laugh, enjoy being the diva in her TEC classroom daily and she could demand more attention to feeding her by her caregiver without one ounce of regret. Annie was THE magnet that held so many people together and brought so much joy to anyone lucky enough to experience her. She taught us so much more than we helped her and allowed us all to appreciate every aspect of our lives as a privilege and not a right. This little girl has left a large crater in the emotional collective of so many people and to say that she will be missed is sadly understated. To Annie, everyone tried to make your life better and at times we just didn't have the power. I will love you always, Dad. Annie...I'll never forget saying in the classroom: "There's a reason for everything", and out of the blue, you burst out laughing! How you startled me! The knowing look in your eyes told it all. God bless...it was an honor to know you.

Dear Dr. Haffenreffer, I was casually reading today's obituaries and I was fortunate enough to read Anne's. It sounds to me as if you did everything a father could do for his child. As far as making her life better - how could she ask for more? She had a loving father. It sounds to me that made YOUR life better - God Bless your family
