Jim Scott and I worked together at Bank of America in San Francisco and became great friends. He was a wonderful man, combining brilliance with kindness, integrity with humor, and humility with great accomplishment. My wife, Marilyn, and I extend our condolences to Jim's wife, Seton, and their children, Bridget and Denis.

Jim was a nice professor and a great person. He gave me the chance to explore a new life in America and gave excellent advice on my studies at law school. He was without a doubt my mentor.

Jim was director of our banking law program while I was Dean. It took me a while to realize that he wasn't just a distinguished lawyer but also a wonderful man - and funny - such a great sense of humor! I still have the "Grinch" Santa hat he gave me. I was so sorry to hear about Jim's illness and passing - To all of Jim's family, my deepest sympathies. He loved you beyond measure and talked about you all the time.

It was with great sadness that I received the news on colleague Jim passing. He was a stalwart, a pillar, of regulatory counsel to me and Bank of America during the financial institution merger frenzy of the 1990s. He ably helped me on the ABA Banking Law Committee, later to become chair of that over 1000 member committee. But more than that, we was a friend,funny to the bone-- make us all laugh when we needed it ( and we sure did sometimes!), amiable, wonderful, ethical, we all loved him. Gigi and I send our condolences to Seton and the family, and wish to tell you how great man, a legal mind, a warm friend,Jim was.

PS: I am sorry that San Francisco obligations prevent us from being at the service for Jim this weekend, but we will be in Boston at the end of Marchfor the ABA Banking Committee meetings Jim loved so much and hope to see everyone there for a remembrance of Jim.
