To the dear family of my friend Eric the Red. We shared three years of high school together at McDonogh Military School, as it was known then,(1959-1961). He was the most intelligent human I've ever known, not a great feat on my part! What was a great feat was his ability to include me in conversation as though I was his equal.
He and I spent many ours together in our school orchestra, marching band, dorm room and football team. Kurt never had an unkind word for anyone. He shared his thoughts, his knowledge freely.
One time I asked him how he did so well in class. His simple yet profound answer was, "I find out what the teacher wants done, and I do it."

I am so sorry to learn of my old college roommate Kurt's death and so sorry I failed to stay in touch with him after we graduated. What a fine man, and what a rich life!

I feel so sad about this. My condolences to You, the family. Kurt invited me to be a visiting scholar to HGSE in 2014 which changed the direction of my life, my research, and how I view myself. He didnt care what my pedigree was.
I recall our last conversation. He said, You are going to do a lot of good in this world. I thought I didnt hear him right and asked him what he said. He repeated it. That meant so much to me.
He was my role model. He did a lot of good on this earth, that us for sure.

I am so sad to learn of Kurt Fischer's passing. I had the great privilege and pleasure to work with him at HGSE. Obviously brilliant but also very approachable. I remember his laugh. Peace to his family.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I was one of Kurt's students and knowing him really changed my life. When I was working at a dead end job after college I filled my free time reading fascinating articles and writing their authors with questions. Kurt was one of the few people who wrote me back. We started an email dialogue that resulted in me attending one of the first MBE cohorts and eventually completing an EdD at HGSE. There is no telling the story of my life without Kurt's simple kindness and willingness to engage with an interesting idea, however humble and naive it's origin. He was a supportive mentor and friend, and is very much missed.
