To the dear family of my friend Eric the Red. We shared three years of high school together at McDonogh Military School, as it was known then,(1959-1961). I feel so sad about this. My condolences to You, the family. Kurt invited me to be a visiting scholar to HGSE in 2014 which changed the direction of my life, my research, and how I view myself. He didnt care what my pedigree was.

I recall our last conversation. He said, You are going to do a lot of good in this world. I thought I didnt hear him right and asked him what he said. He repeated it. That meant so much to me.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I was one of Kurt's students and knowing him really changed my life. When I was working at a dead end job after college I filled my free time reading fascinating articles and writing their authors with questions. Kurt was one of the few people who wrote me back. I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember how kind Kurt was to me, and his patience with the kids, his humble attitude when giving advice, and his intelligence.
