I recently found out about Helen Bishop's passing as I returned to Boston from a Rockport Day trip. I met Helen at one of the Rockport galleries across the Rockport Art Association early 2000's. I left our visit changed. I loved her paintings and her wise energy. Our visit has remained with me over the years and will remain with me until the end of my life. I am a painter also. I have a card of her work and will check for other pieces when I visit Fenway Studios. RIP Helen. Thoughts of you in Rockport.

Helen Argeros Bishop,
I am Helen’s niece from Philadelphia. My Aunt’s obituary made no mention of her family, so I would like to give a brief history of her loving family. She was born on September 11, 1922, the oldest of three children born to Spiros and Jessie Argeros. Her brother Willie of Philadelphia had 13 children, 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her youngest brother Babe lived in Florida and had 1 son. Aunt Helen and I didn’t see each other often, and she didn’t like to talk on the phone, so we wrote to each other. I received my last card from her on May 1,2007. She never mentioned she was ill. So when I received the call that she had passed away, I was shocked and very sad. Her children Tina and Peter, her loving parents Spiros and Jessie Argeros, her brother Willie and Babe, predeceased my Aunt.
I hope and pray she is at peace with her family. I am going to miss her many letters, cards and poems. She was a wise and very talented woman that will be missed not only by her family, but the many people she touched through her paintings.
Today is September 11th,and I want to wish Aunt Helen a Happy 85th Birthday.
My you rest in peace.
Your loving niece,
Charlene Argeros Melendez

I met her only twice but knew her deeply through her paintings of dancers. She understood a dancer's spirit because she, herself, danced her life. I am saddened at our loss.
