Bertha Dunn Obituary
WILMINGTON -- Bertha Luella (Davis) Dunn, 85, a resident of Haynes Road, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, where she had resided the past 11/2 years, with her loving family at her side.
Mrs. Dunn was born in Wilmington on Oct. 27, 1921, the daughter of the late George F. and Kate (Cooper) Davis.
She grew up in Wilmington and attended the one-room schoolhouse on Higley Hill Road.
She first married Lyle L. Willett in West Dover on Feb. 18, 1930. They had four children: Emile, Carmelita, Suzanne and Lorette.
She later married W. Irving Dunn in West Dover on Oct. 27, 1971, and together, they owned and operated Dunn's Store in West Dover until their retirement.
Following retirement, they spent summers in Wilmington and wintered in Fruitland Park, Fla., for many years. Mr. Dunn died on Sept. 12, 2004.
The Dunns shared a great interest in Morgan horses and attended many Morgan shows throughout the state.
She was a member of the West Dover Congregational Church.
Mrs. Dunn leaves her three daughters, Carmelita Allen and husband David of Jacksonville, Suzanne Crawford and husband Alan of Wilmington and Lorette Willett of Brattleboro; a daughter-in-law Louise Willett of Fayetteville, N.C.; her 12 grandchildren, Shawn Allen, Katie Boyd, Ellie Gage, Jason Crawford, Ann-Lyn Parro, Emile Willett Jr., Kerrianne Edwards, Lyle Willett, Christine Sarin, Emily Dooley, Mark Allen and Jeanne Allen; 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Emile Willett Sr., on Aug. 10, 2006, and two brothers, Lawrence Davis and Gordon Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the COVEY & ALLEN FUNERAL HOME, 44 East Main St., Wilmington, with the Rev. Marcia Dorey, pastor of the West Dover Congregational Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family lot in the Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Covey & Allen Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 p.m., when the family will be present.
