Darlene Lassy Obituary

Darlene Janice (Packer) Lassy, 83, of Plymouth CT, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Devoted wife of the late Raymond G. Lassy, and daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Howard) Packer, Darlene is survived by her children Cheryl(Lassy) and Robert Casola, Julie Lassy, Brian and Diane Lassy, Robin(Lassy) and Joseph Roman, and Rae Ann Stone. Darlene was blessed with many adoring grandchildren: Raymond and Virginia Casola, Christopher Casola, Sarah (Casola) and Andrew Wishart, Brianna, Karl, and Benjamin Lassy, Caitlin (Lassy) and Peter Constantinople, and Max, Andrah and Jack Stone, and great grandson Ryan (Roman) Pinette. And by her brothers Glenn (and Rena) Packer, and Gary Packer. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her sister Carol (Packer) Cianchetti. Darlene grew up in Thomaston and raised her family in Plymouth where she and Ray lived out their lives together devoting their time to their large family. Darlene was a devout Christian and longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Terryville. She spent much of her time active with the church serving on the Altar Guild and as President of the Ladies' Aid, and every year she made The Best apple pies for the annual bazaar. Throughout the years she volunteered in many capacities as a leader with the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts, the Registrar of Voters, and the PTA. She attended all of her children and grandchildren's many sports games, musical concerts, ceremonies, graduations and events. Darlene had a huge heart, and her generosity touched so many lives throughout her years. She cared for her siblings from a young age and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and aged with grace and strength. Her wonderful sense of humor made it impossible not to smile when you were in her presence. She was gracious, exceptionally kind, appreciative, and smart (as well as being the best puzzler in the Lassy Family). Darlene possessed the utmost virtue, moral character, and etiquette and passed these traits on lovingly to her family. We are all grateful for that. Mom, you can be certain we will honor your last request to always "Keep the family together". The family will be having a private burial and ask that any donations in Darlene's memory be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Terryville, or to the Plymouth Food Bank. The family would like to thank Bristol Home Care & Hospice Agency, especially the nurses, for the professional, loving care that they gave to Darlene and her family.
