Dennis A. Rogers

1943 - 2020

Dennis A. Rogers 76, of Harwich, MA. formerly of Bristol, died Thursday (May 14, 2020) at Wingate of Harwich from complications of the COVID-19 Virus.
Dennis was born in Bristol on December 31,1943, and was one of three children of the late Carroll A. Rogers and Simonne (Dumont) Rogers.
He was raised and lived in Bristol until 2013 where he graduated from St. Ann's Grammar school in 1958, and Bristol Eastern High in 1962.
He proudly served in the Connecticut Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. receiving an honorable discharge in December 1966.
On June 23, 1966 he was sidelined due to injuries sustained in a horrific motorcycle accident. After months in a coma followed by months of physical rehabilitation, Dennis slowly regained most of his mobility.
He never let his physical disabilities get him down. He was always upbeat, and in a good mood. He had an infectious smile and laugh.
He was a loyal friend to all who knew him, and was always ready to help anyone in need.
He held a variety of jobs over the remainder of his life, the last one being at the Highland Park Market in Farmington
He was a Life Member of Bristol BPOE #1010 proudly serving as an Officer for several years. His talents on their Bowling, Dart, and Set Back leagues provided much laughter among he and his fellow Lodge Members. Affectionately known as "Deadeye Dennie", he also had a strong affection for fast cars, especially his 1965 Pontiac GTO.
He was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Elaine M. Clavette.
Dennis is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Donald and Alice Rogers of Eastham, MA. brother-in-law Conrad Clavette of Southington, Nephews Patrick L. Clavette, Carl (Melissa) Clavette. Nieces Kristen (Robert) Lessard, all of CT.
Ingrid Rogers Abrams(Tom Jr.) of Salisbury, MA. and Leah Rogers and her partner Jason Muchmore of Portsmouth, NH. Great Nieces Kylie Lessard, Amber Clavette,and Ellie Clavette, all of CT.
Great Nephews Cody Lessard, Timothy Clavette both of CT., Thomas Abrams(TJ) III, and Benjamin Abrams of MA. Funeral services and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol will be held later when all may attend.
