Maurice Brodeur Obituary

Maurice "Moe" Brodeur

Burlington - Maurice "Moe" Brodeur, 78, of Burlington, Vermont passed away peacefully on August 17, 2018, after suddenly falling ill. He was born on September 16, 1939 in Richmond, Vermont to Helen and Paul Brodeur. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1958. He married Francoise Thibault on September 4, 1961. They made their home in Essex Junction, VT. Together they had two children, Patricia and Tony Brodeur. In 1976 the family moved to Houston, Texas. He worked as a construction superintendent in residential housing. Following Francoise's death on February 13, 1994, he relocated back to Burlington. On June 8, 1996 he married Anita Allen. Throughout his life he was a bus driver, carpenter, owned a bakery on Pearl Street, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed as the maintenance manager at St. Joseph's Home for the Elderly for the past eleven years.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Allen Brodeur; his two children, Patricia Brodeur, and Tony and his wife Susan Perez Brodeur. He has three grandchildren, Amy, Joe, and Mary Brodeur; his siblings, Rene Brodeur (Dora), Doris Daigle, Elaine Brodeur, Joe Brodeur (Linda), and Michael Brodeur (Nancy); three step-children, Randy Allen, Robin Latulippe, and Tom Allen; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Francois Brodeur; brother, Paul Brodeur; sisters, Pauline Parent, Lucille Backus, Claire Sweet, and Jeanne Herrick.

The family would like to send a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at the VNA Respite House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Association.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 20 at the Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 N. Winooski Ave., Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21 in St. Mark Church. Interment will take place in Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer Association.

To the family of Moe..
He and I served mass together at St Joseph and perhaps this is where and when we really got to know each other. Though at Vermont Transit our knowledge of each other matured a bit.

The entire family was proud of him especially his dad.
