Patricia D'Avignon Obituary

Patricia Ann D'Avignon

Patricia Ann D'Avignon (nee Phelps) passed away peacefully at home Friday, August 7th with her loved ones at her bedside. She was 81. Pat was a kind and generous woman who loved making the world a better place by setting an example of caring for others. She enjoyed gardening at home and established a community garden on the Weybridge side of the covered bridge. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Jim, daughters Amy Denney, Debby Marchese, and Suzi Bettes and sons TJ and Jim and her sisters Cindy and Sandy and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pat truly believed in being Christ for others. Whether it was dressing up as Mrs. Claus to deliver Christmas presents to under privileged children, making sure the man who had slept on their porch one night had breakfast and coffee for the road the next morning, or purchasing a watch for a young man she didn't know because that is what he really wanted for Christmas. Pat was loved by anyone who knew her and will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

She was predeceased by grandson Jay D'Avignon and brother Bruce Phelps.

Funeral services will be held at ST. MARY'S CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION in Middlebury Friday, August 14th at 10:00 am. (Church safety protocols observed, please wear a mask.) A private burial will follow the service. A celebration of life to be announced at a future date.

We sure do miss both Pat and Jim. Such a big loss. They were almost like family. We did meet, and get to know, several of their family members. It is still hard to accept their passing. We loved them.

Loved hearing Aunt Pat's stories of her youth.
That lady had 9 lives!!
Looked forward to the annual family reunions & a chance to sit and catch up.

Pat was a kind, gentle and loving lady. She took care of so many other people who needed help. Memories: I will never forget how she cooked a big meal, at lunch time, for her favorite guys when they came in from the shop. Dick and I had the privilege of meeting them, fellow RVers, in FL and spent three months together each winter for, at least, sixteen years. We visited them in Vermont several times and they actually came to IL to see us. Pat and I got along so well, had lots of adventures and fun.. I think Jim and Dick became like brothers. We miss Pat so much. The last visit to their home was in the Fall of 2018. So glad we took that trip. See you in Heaven some day Pat.

Pat was one of the greatest ladies I know. She always had a smile on her face. She was very giving. She made the best flap jacks I ever ate! Loved her so much and will miss her dearly! ❤❤❤
