PAUL PRESEAULT Obituary

PAUL PRESEAULT BURLINGTON - Paul Preseault, 76, of Burlington, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born in West Glover on Aug. 15, 1933, the son of Camille and Exilia (Boudreau) Preseault. Paul was a graduate of Orleans High School, class of 1952, and of UVM where he received his Bachelor's degree in 1956. He was a member of the Delta PSI Fraternity. Upon graduation, Paul joined the Vermont Air National Guard and earned his pilot's wings with the U.S. Air Force in Texas. In 1963, he married Patricia Morin in Lyndonville. Paul was a pilot for Eastern Airlines for over 28 years, retiring as Captain. Also during that time and up to his death, he was a developer, owner and operator of numerous rental properties in Chittenden County. Born Joseph Andre Jean Paul Preseault, Paul was a Worker with a capital W. He spent an incredible amount of his life working very hard; anyone who ever shook Paul's hand could feel that history. At age nine, Paul plowed the fields of his family's farm by horse team, and less than two decades later he would be flying sorties over Greenland as a fighter pilot for the Vermont Air Guard's "Green Mountain Boys." If there was a mission to be accomplished, whether it was shoveling snow at 4am or battling government backed constituencies over property rights at the United States Supreme Court, Paul was there with total dedication and determination. There are very few "sons of Vermont" who have achieved so much when starting with so little. Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia of Burlington; three children, Holly Hammond of Maui, Hawaii, Todd Preseault and his wife, Debra, Maui, Hawaii, and J. Paul Preseault of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, Rad Hammond, Ethan, Erika, and Kai Preseault, Sophia Preseault-Strouse, and Jackson Heinlein-Preseault; one sister, Lee Rutz of Shelburne; one sister-in-law, Alice Preseault of Irasburg; and nieces and nephews. Paul's parents, a grandson, Huxley Hammond, and his brother, Fernand Preseault, predeceased him. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road. For those who wish, donations in his memory may be made to VNA-Hospice, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446. To send online condolences, please visit www.readyfuneral.com

Pat and family,
I met Paul while woking with his
Uncle Willie. The time and energy he spend caring for Willie's needs without ever talking about his own needs speak loudly to the kind of loving person he was.
It was my pleasure to have known Paul.
My deepest sympathy for your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Dear Pat and Family,
So many people have great stories of working with Paul. He most recently went out of his way (driving his huge, insulated, electrical truck across town and back)so that we could safely finish our building project. He was always in support of the underdog. We will miss him very much.

There was only one like him and what a wonderful person he was. His many guestures of kindness to my husband and I, will never be forgotten. How he loved and took care of Little Eagle Bay brings tears to my eyes. We will cherish living in the barn, Paul, and thank you for the opportunity to live in such a beautiful place.

Someday in heaven Ed and I will have a "special martini" with you. Your favorite olives and you telling Ed "not too strong, I have to go home and have dinner with Pat."

Goodbye our dear friend. You are now in the arms of the angels and may you find some comfort there. Rest in peace, we will think of you often.
