Dorothy Gallaher Obituary

Dorothy G. Gallaher, 94, of Kittanning died Monday at the VNA Hospice of Butler.
She was born May 22, 1921, in Donegal Township, the daughter of Lewis and Dora (Lechner) Garing.
Dorothy graduated from Karns City High School in 1939 and moved to Kittanning. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a very active member in years past.
She was previously employed by the former Kittanning Telephone Co., where she worked as a supervisor from 1940 to 1951 when she decided to care for her family and raise four children.
Dorothy served for many years on the County Elections Board in the Kittanning 2nd Ward where she enjoyed greeting friends and neighbors as they came to vote.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, William E. Gallaher Sr. and his wife, Bonnie, of West Kittanning, John M. Gallaher and his wife, Christine, of Hershey, Timothy J. Gallaher of Bismarck, N.D., and Nancy J. Cerutti and her husband, John, of Kittanning; 11 grandchildren, William Gallaher Jr., Kathleen Craig and her husband, Pete, Lauren Knepp and her husband, Tony, Michael Gallaher, Arielle Gallaher, Alicia Round and her companion, Sean Pacek, Jennifer Round-Baker and her husband, Rob Baker, Matthew Round and his wife, Kayla, Andrew Round and his wife, Erin, Jessica Reesman and her husband, Jake, and John Cerutti Jr. and his wife, Keri; eight great-grandchildren, Sydney and Elyse Pacek, Maely and Elodie Round, Tommy Baker, Hadley and Addyson Round and Wyatt Reesman; one brother, John Garing and his wife, Harriet, of Chicora; three sisters, Jeannette McCullough of Chicora, Anna Truscott of Chicora and Marilyn Knepshield and her husband, Donald, of Leechburg; and two sisters-in-law, Joan Garing of Chicora and Jeannette Garing of Sun City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. "Bill" Gallaher III, who she married Dec. 10, 1949, and who died May 29, 2009; two brothers, Lewis and Herbert Garing; and two sisters, Vemberline Sedwick and Alice Garing.
GALLAHER - Friends of Dorothy G. Gallaher, who died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning.
Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating.
Burial will be at the Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's honor to St John's Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson Street, Kittanning, PA 16201.
Arrangements are being handled by Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kittanning.
