Ruth H. Rajchel, 90, of Butler died Tuesday evening at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Butler, and was a daughter of the late William and Irene Barnhart Frye.
Ruth was retired from the food service department of the Butler School District. Following her retirement, she became active as a volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital and was a past president of the hospital auxiliary. Later she served as a hospice volunteer for the VNA Hospice program.
She was a member of the Butler Chapter of the Women of the Moose and had held several offices there, including being a past grand regent for Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church of Butler and the Butler Court of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was the widow of Frank S. Rajchel. They married June 25, 1941, and he passed away Nov. 11, 1998. Also preceding her in death were a brother and four sisters.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Frank V. and Carole Rajchel, Robert A. and Nancy Rajchel, all of Butler, and Barbara and Thomas Sinz of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Agnes Rajchel of Butler; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
RAJCHEL - Friends of Ruth H. Rajchel, who died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
