GILHOOLY, Ronald Burns
October 2, 1923 - July 22, 2015
It is with great sadness but peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Ron Gilhooly. Ron was born October 2, 1923 in Waldron Saskatchewan, and passed away July 22, 2015 in Calgary. Ron was a Second World War veteran, and was proud to have recently received the Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour bestowed by the French Government, and a similar medal from the Dutch government, recognizing his participation in the Liberation of France and the Netherlands. When Ron returned to Calgary from the war, he met and married his beloved Jean, who predeceased him in 1999. He was a Master Electrician by trade, and distinguished himself among his peers, as President of the Electrical Contractors Association of Alberta for two consecutive terms. He also spent many volunteer hours as the President of Confederation Park Seniors Association. Family was very important to Ron. He is lovingly remembered by his three children, Jim (Elaine); Sylvia Page (Doug) and Don (Kathleen). Also by his 9 Grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, James, Julia, Denise, Cheryl, Michael, Lisa and Shaun, as well his 13 Great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. followed by luncheon at the King of Glory / Cornerstone Christian Assembly, 2640 Rundlelawn Road NE, Calgary with Pastor Kathleen Gilhooly officiating.
