Therese Durovec, age 82 years of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 peacefully in her sleep. Born December 1, 1933, Therese grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan with 12 sisters and brothers. Later she moved to the city. There she worked in a department store for many years, later working in the service industry until retirement. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Therese was a mom who loved and raised her children on her own with all her heart. She liked to bake and sew. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, being generous with what she had. She is survived by her husband William Durovec of Calgary, Alberta, her brother Lucien Briere of Saskatchewan. Her four children, Lionel Schmitchen, Jude (Hal) Hanen, Caroline (Mike) Begin and Lynda (Byron) Lawrence all from Calgary, Alberta. Her grandchildren, Mitchell Hanen, Scott Hanen, Josh Begin, Sydney Begin, Jesse Lawrence and Jake Lawrence all from Calgary, Alberta. She is also survived by her niece Lorraine McRory and family. She was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Laura Briere, as well as 11 other brother and sisters; Agnes, Bertha, Celine, Aurore, Leonard, Jeanne, Raoul, Marcel, Gerard, Albert and Mary. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Parish, (1414 Shawnessy Blvd. SW), on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
