Max McDonald Obituary

Max Irvin McDonald, 83, of Williamsburg, Colorado, met his Saviour face to face July 9, 2017. He was born May 18, 1934 in New Augusta, Mississippi to Dewey and Roberta McDonald. He served 23 years in The United States Air Force, working primarily as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. He loved the culture and landscape of his beloved Southwest and especially enjoyed eating green chile. Max's relationship with Jesus Christ served as the foundation of his life, and the times he spent with fellow believers in church were important to him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Cynthia; his parents; brothers, Billy, Bobby, Tom, Jerry and sister, Leta Pearl. Max is survived by his wife, Amy, of Canon City; sons, James (Andrea), of Pensacola, Florida, John (Jeanette), of Williamsburg, Colorado, David (Carol Jean) of Leesburg, Florida; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation, 9:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, Calvary Baptist Church, 1415 Elm Ave., in Canon City. Interment, 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Services have been entrusted to Holt Family Funeral Home. We were blessed to meet Max and Cynthia McDonald when they lived across the street from Debbie's parents, Jay and Ruth Harden. The two families enjoyed much time together. Max and Jay loved to reminisce about the military life, and Cynthia and Ruth kept up with various family members, as well as church ministries. Max was a strong Christian and a loving family man. Honest as the day is long, he also had a good sense of humor. We were honored to know him.
