Visitation will be held Friday, (today) Sept. 21, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Canton Cemetery. www.heitger.com

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the honor of going to high school with Missy my freshman and sophmore year until I went to the career center for my final two years, I did get to cheerlead with Missy my freshman and sophmore year though, along with my 7th grade year of middle school... I loved Missy, she was always so bold and strong. She was a great teammate and a great friend as well. Once again it was an honor to know her and be apart of her life in someway, prayers for your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I got the honor of meeting Melissa in 2010 when I joined Phi Delta Epsilon at the University of Akron. I havent spoken to her in awhile since I have resigned from the group, but I know that she was such a beautiful and passionate young woman. She always had a smile on her face and never let anything bring her down. I wish I would have gotten to know her better, but someday in heaven, I will. I will be praying for your family and just know that Dr. Cason is in heaven with a new white lab coat.

Melissa was a student in my Cancer Biology course at the University of Akron in spring 2012. She was a great student, optimistic and interested in learning, always prepared for class and she asked good questions. It was a pleasure to have her in class. I am so sorry for your loss. We will all miss her.

You were a light in my life ever since that day in Kindergarten when you were so quick to want to be my friend. You were so sweet from a very young age. I have more memories than I can count. Since your passing, I find myself telling stories of all of the amazing memories I have of you and I and laughing instead of crying. I'm unsure what my life would have been like up until this point without you. I only weep for myself now because I know that you are no longer hurting. You are no longer suffering. You have beautiful wings and you worked so hard for them. I'll never forget you, my friend, my sister.

Melissa was able to effortlessly make anyone smile,laugh,feel good about themselves,welcomed and loved. Her warm heart was well loved ansd respected. Her character completely magnetic and all of her own. An amazigly talented, well educated, giving, selfless humanitarian, Melissa was an incredible gift to this world. Her ations/accomplishments are legendry. A person who left permanent kisses on the scars of your heart..... You will be so immensely missed sweetheart. In grandma's words..
