Thomas B. Perini

NORTH FALMOUTH -

Thomas B. Perini, a longtime resident of Framingham and North Falmouth, passed away in his home on March 10, 2007, at age 75.

Tom was the son of Elda Maria (Castiglioni) Perini and Joseph Richard Perini, who, along with his brothers, were the original founders of Perini Construction Corp., and were known as ''the three steam shovels'' in the construction industry.

Tom attended the University of Virginia, and after serving in the Army in Germany during the Korean War, he began his career at Perini Corp. During his career with Perini Corp., the company constructed many local landmark projects, such as the Prudential Tower, the Massachusetts Turnpike Toll Extension and the Callahan Tunnel under Boston Harbor.

The Perini family also founded the Jimmy Fund, and owned the Boston Braves baseball team, who they later moved to Milwaukee and won the World Series in 1957.

Tom was a board member of the New England Carpenters Union, a former commodore of the Megansett Yacht Club and member of Pocasset Golf Club. He loved boating, fishing, golfing and hunting, and was an avid outdoorsman.

As president of the Joseph R. Perini Foundation, he was an active philanthropist, supporting charitable organizations such as The David B. Perini Jr. Quality of Life Program at The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, The Jimmy Fund, The Anthony Spinazzola Foundation and The Genesis Fund.

He was the loving husband of the late Pauline (Bianchi) Perini.

He is survived by his brother, Joseph R Perini Jr., and four sisters, Camilla Vetri, Felicia Stevenson, Ria Conley and Mary Currie; his daughters, ''The Girls,'' Debora Donovan, Denise Perini, Dianne Perini, Pamela Perini, Paula Perini-Miller and Patricia Cerro; and his grandchildren, Ty Perini, Brooke Miller, Jay Miller, Taylor Miller, Raymond Cerro and Sydney Cerro; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Bianchi Wilcox. He will be sadly missed by many.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 14, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway (Route 28A), West Falmouth.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 Quaker Road, North Falmouth. Burial will follow in North Falmouth Cemetery.
