Bernie was a friend to all. Especially to children. He never failed to ask my children what their special interests were and to encourage them to to follow their dreams of a future. He is sorely missed,

Dear Doug, Bernie worked for me at the state Department of Envoronmental Protection for about 5 years. You could not ask for a better worker, very concientious and dedicated to his job. He was a wonderful person and a true "gentileman". If you look up the word gentileman, Bernie's picture would be on it. My prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with your dad at DEQE years ago and he was a dear man. He spoke of you often and I hope you take great comfort in knowing the joy you brought him.

Dear Douglas, Elyse and children, You have my deepest sympathy on your loss; Bernie was a dear friend to both my husband and to me. In 1949, as one of my husband's closest friends, Bernie was an Usher at our wedding. My wonderful memories of the years we shared through the "Couples Club" with both your Dad and your Mom are all of happy occasions. They will live on forever in my heart and mind.
Sincerely,
