Charles Verrill Sr.

VERRILL - Charles O., Sr., 90, of Harwich, MA, died Saturday. Husband of the late Helen (Armstrong), who died in 1996, and also Elizabeth (Handy) Verrill who died in 1970. He retired in 1969 as Coordinator in Bureau of Operations for U.S. Post Office Dept. in Washington, DC. He had been a full-time resident of Cape Cod for the past 35 years after having summered and vacationed here, at his wife Elizabeth's family Baker Home in Harwich, since 1930. He is survived by three children, Atty. Charles O. Verrill Jr. of Washington, DC, John H. of Hebron, MD and Eleanor V. Hood of Lancaster OH. Also leaves two brothers, David of Yarmouth, ME and Roland of Sophia, NC, and one sister, Marjorie Wilcox of Sanford, ME. Also, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will begin on Monday, Feb. 14, at 12 noon with an hour of reflection at the First Congregational Church of Harwich, Main Street, Harwich Center, followed by a service at 1 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery in Harwich. Donations are suggested to the Harwich Conservation Assoc., 6 Freeman Way, Harwich Port, MA 02646.
