Franklyn W. Hitchcock

YARMOUTH PORT — Frank Hitchcock of Heatherwood, Yarmouthport, died June 1, 2010 in Mayflower Place Nursing Center. In addition to his wife, Catherine (Ramsey) Hitchcock, he is survived by his children; son, Dale Hitchcock of New Market, Md., daughter, Betsy Jones and her husband, Robert, of Amherst, grandchildren; Robert Jones and his wife, Becky of W. Springfield, Nathan Hitchcock and his wife, Eliane, of Germantown, Md. and Jessica Hitchcock of Laytonsville, Md, his dear great-grandchildren; Natalie and Sophia Hitchcock and his only surviving sibling, John Hitchcock of Williamstown. He was the stepfather of Gaynor Coules of Eastbourne, England and Gareth Morrell and his wife, Meredith, of Atlantic Highlands, N.J.

Born in Pittsfield, the son of Mary and Wilfred Hitchcock, he grew up in Windsor and attended school in Dalton with his two sisters and two brothers. He lived for many years in Worthington where he was active in local politics and served on many boards including school committees. He was a noted cabinetmaker, restaurateur, and prize-winning photographer. Before his retirement, he was the Town Assessor in Rockland for 15 years.
